I don't guess I ever knew racetrac sold boiled peanuts. Yesterday I saw a guy rush in there and dip him a big cup full like they were about to sell out. He looked excited to get his 16 oz. of buffet gas station slop.

Is this something yall partake in? Sure seems nasty to me.

A good friend o mine use to boil them and offer them to me. Out of kindness I ate a few each time, maybe it is one of those things you have to develop a taste for Cuz I ain't there yet!

I love me some boiled peanuts, I wouldn’t eat them dipped out of a tub at a gas station though.

Dads side of the family is from SC and I’ve been eating them since I could walk, weird but good!!

Not sure about other SEC schools but you can buy them at football games in Starkvegas. However, better buy them before halftime ends because there won’t be any left afterwards. Wouldn’t be surprised if The Pirate has developed a taste for them as well.

However, I have been told the folks up the road in Oxford refuse to eat them.

There are not many foods that I don’t like, but I’m not a fan of boiled peanuts.

When i was a kid we used to go to Gorman and get few tow sacks of fresh peanuts. Roasted some and boiled some. I prefer the roasted but I will eat the boiled peanuts.

Yep. Lived in GA for 15 years. Had them all the time but never from a gas station. Got to make them yourself or get them from a roadside stand.

Grew up in the Florida panhandle. Used to sell them at HS football games as an FFA fundraiser. Ate them all the time with dad growing up. Roadside stands or boiling your own was best. Much more of a thing east of the Mississippi in the South.

So, for uninformed minds, what does the boiling do to the peanuts? Do they soften as they're boiled? Or does boiling bring out different flavors in them? Trying to understand what is accomplished by the boiling process.

They’re boiled in salt water which softens both the nuts and shells while adding more taste. You can crack and eat them more easily than roasted peanuts which have also been salted.
