So I know there are a lot of haters on here, and back in 2019 I shot a deer on my property that apparently made a few people here butt hurt. They stated I shot 2 deer in Lampasas county, when, in fact, the burnet county line ran down the middle of my property. The deer was shot in Burnet county, and the game wardens came out and looked, and based on their OnX hunt app, their info was wrong. They said I was in Lampasas County by 20 yards and took the deer and gave me a citation. Well today we finally had our day in court, and just like I tried to tell the wardens, the county CAD websites & my land surveys both stated that the GPS coordinate from the Game Wardens body cam were both in Burnet county, which made it a legal buck. Jury deliberated for about 10 mins before finding me not guilty! Best of all I got my deer back. I also got to make some great new friends at the courthouse today so that was awesome. US LAW Shield with the Hunt Shield add on was the only reason I had the means to fight this. They paid for everything! This insurance is awesome.

Any charges against the GW's? They knew how to find out the truth.

Awesome and Congrats!
I think in situations like this the law enforcement agency should be forced to provide restitution. Glad you got your deer back.

I guess I'm confused about how the GW knew to come check? Hell, I shot 7 deer this year, we've shot ~100 in the last 7-8 years, and I haven't seen a GW in close to 35 years at our place. Glad you got it back but sounds like you need better friends or fewer enemies.

I’ve seen a similar thing play out in another state, basically to prove innocence by 20 yards he would of had to resurvey a 20k acre ranch out of pocket.
Pretty interesting that they ticketed off of onX , since onx has a pretty straightforward legal disclaimer.
I know the onX lots lines are off. I had a cabin that onX said lot line went through living room. Survey proved that to be false.

I'm surprised the GW was that particular unless he thought the entire property was in Lampasas county and zero of it was in Burnet. I hunted many years on a ranch that had 4000 acres in one county and 3000 in another. No way to tell for sure which county you were in if you were in the middle of the ranch. GW told us to do the best we could and we did. Never had a problem. And both counties were one buck.
Silver spurs and gold tequila keep me hanging on. Pretty girls and old cantinas give me shelter from the storm.

I have often wondered about this very issue. My lease is split by a thin margin by two counties. Fortunately both have the same game quotas however I guess “technically” I could be ticketed for marking the wrong county down on my tag. How am I to tell though. There are no markings to delineate the county line. One would have to use an aerial photo and know the gps coordinates of the county line to insure compliance. Not worth the effort.. I do the best I can.

Some just want to get convictions and will hedge their bets that you can’t fight it. It’s not an honest mistake on their part. That is a direct result of a lack of accountability in law enforcement.
This is still America, not a police state yet. But you might think these guys are trying to make it that way.

good for you! also agree that it begs the question about why the GW got involved in the first place? I hunted several places that were split by the same counties, Burnet & Lampasas, but that was way before AR were in place and both counties had the same rules/quota

And to think I have been on that lease for 8 yrs now. Doesnt matter though as I haven’t pulled the trigger in 5 years anyways.

also agree that it begs the question about why the GW got involved in the first place? I posted the video on here and a member of this forum was the one who called. It is a guy that has made negative comments on several of my posts. His name came out in court as he did not remain anonymous, so the warden had to say who it was. I will Not mention the name, but not surprised on who it was. Maybe they did not realize I had 2 counties on my property.

Way to go, too bad punks still exist and always will. I am glad you came out on top and thanks for sharing. You’re a better man than me for not saying who is the little snitch on here. Especially when they didn’t even have their facts straight. If it were me , all y’all would know who’s causing trouble

Good for you! Glad you won the case. You said you got your deer back but that just looks like a set of antlers. What happened to the meat? I hope you release the name of the chkinchit that called the warden on you.

So after I shot the deer I took it to my work where I showed my employees how to process a deer and donated all the meat to them since I had enough. All the meat was not wasted. Only thing I did not get back was the cape. I will buy one close to his and still shoulder mount him.
