I am new to the area here, and need some help. Anyone know of any good areas in or near DFW that I can train my pup. I am anxious to get her out on her first hunt this winter, and need an area I can work on conditioning and some blind retrieves. She is flushing like a champ already. At 1 1/2 years old, I am impressed and what she can do already. Also, are you allowed to trap doves here for training? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just to be curious what kind of dog? There are plenty of clubs and some are breed specific. There are places to train her but you must search. As for the dove the only dove in Texas you could trap for training is the European Collared dove. You will know when you see one because they are almost as big as a pigeon. They have a squared off tail and a black ring that goes almost all the way around the neck.

She is actually a mix breed. She is 1/2 lab, 1/2 rott. She was given to me by someone who had no clue about dogs and just did not have the room or patience for her. But I tell you what, she listens better and learns faster than any full blood lab I have ever had before. But it is hard to get into a club with her. Atleast it was back home cause everyone only allowed pure blood. But she loves to work a field. Loves it.
