Son was here yesterday using my Turbo Tax to file his return. As soon as he entered his gross income, the screen locked. About a minute later, his basic return was complete.
The software had connected to his employers payroll system and pulled the rest of the W2 information.
Slick or alarming?
If the 2nd amendment was written just to include guns for hunting, why is there not an amendment to protect fishing poles?

Probably a box that is checked that goes unread... You can select to have it look for it or enter ot yourself.

If your son did not give them permission to access his employers payroll files then that is very disturbing? One would think that he did as Herbie stated granting permission. Probably a box that is checked that goes unread... Also you would think that they have agreements with those companies to access their data base, if not then ruh roh.

In my experience with AT&T when I did corporate contracts, you would be absolutely shocked at the amount of data out there regarding you. You have no secrets.

ADP has the majority of paycheck processing in the country...they have all this data and tax places sign up to integrate to ADP. Tax place asks you if you want them to check the database for your information so you don't have to type it all...user says yes, tax software hits ADP then checks and if it's there they pull it back to prefill the boxes so you don't have to fill them.
You gave them permission to check...they just have integrations setup.
Like 603 says...there is a TON of info we all put out there for folks to see...it's the way everything is going.

" Walk Me....." and "Let Me Choose" I had him check "Walk Me" as a learning experience. I have not seen a disclaimer or such. Really not alarmed as much as surprised. I have used TT Home and Business several years running. This was the first year TT extracted that much information. Makes one realize how fragile our privacy.

Sometimes I wonder why we even have to file a return, they already know everything
