My FIL is in the market for a semi auto 12 ga - for hunting cranes, doves, turkeys and possibly home defense (with a different barrel). I pointed him to the Beretta A300 because I see a lot of those in my daughter's shooting team shoots and they seem relatively reliable. He hasn't been able to find one locally and is asking about the Winchester SX4. I know nothing about them.

Anyone have experience with the SX4 they can pass along?
Thanks!

My brother loves his. I have shot it a few times and like it, as far as performance. Altho I have to say it is an ugly mother, and has all the charm of a hammer. He feeds it whatever, rarely cleans it, and it functions flawlessly.

Some days you're the pigeon, other days you are the statue!

Thanks for the feedback. That's a good data point.

I have a Retay Gordion 12 gauge with a walnut stock. It's only been used for sporting clays so far with about 4 - 5 flats of target loads through it. The only improvement made so far is to adjust the trigger pull to around 4 pounds. It's a good alternative to the Beretta however it may bother those that are recoil sensitive. https://www.retayusa.com/product-category/gordion/gordion-walnut/

Buddy of mine had his choice of whatever from the BPS gun counter a few years ago. Went with an SX4 and has been very happy with it. No issues that I know of.

Love my SX2 and SX3 shotguns. No problems whatsoever.

Thanks for all the help. FIL wound up finding an A300 at Scheels. We took it to the range for clays and he's pretty happy.
