Reason it's so rare is because it was a complete failure. Because of the necked down case in the 256 it would eventually lock up the cylinder because the case would push back.
Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

I figured something like that had taken place. They say the .22 caliber Pythons were also a revolver that would not fire? Must have been a thought that never came to completion. That is an interesting video for sure. There is some mention of the .256 & .22 in the Colt Forum, but not much. Thanks for the added info!
