For the last 20 years, I have been eating out 6-7 days a week for lunch. I eat breakfast and supper at home.

With the inflation, lunch has gone up $1 to $3 a meal.

I am now only eating lunch out 2-3 times a week. I can afford it, but the price is making me

We stopped ordering appetizers when we eat out at restaurants, or we order an appetizer and one entree.

Anyone else changing their dining habits?

I don’t enjoy eating out much not only because of the price but also the quality/taste is going down. Eating out just isn’t good anymore like it used to be. I can’t think of the last time I said “wow, that was really good, we need to come back here and eat again”. Mexican food is about the only thing we think is consistently decent. The higher prices have made me more critical of the food. If we are going to spend $30-$40 for the two of us to eat, I want it to taste good. I’ve made more of an effort to cook at home. Good food and can usually eat for less than $10 for the both of us.

We've made more of an effort to eat at home. Higher prices and food quality have influenced that move. Restaurant help is in short supply and that has affected service and the quality of what you get. That said, Babe"s in Frisco was good last week.

I get tired of eating out. I travel for work all the time, eating 3 meals per day out. When I'm home, we only eat out occasionally, and usually go to a nice place. My wife would eat out more often, but usually will not ask to.

Our meals are covered when on the road and we were asked to try and keep it to:
$5 breakfast
$10 lunch
$20 dinner
This is getting tougher to do.

When at home the wife and I never go out. We stay home and eat good food.

As Reagan once said, "We could say the government spends like drunken sailors, but that would be unfair to drunken sailors, because the sailors are spending their own money."

Historically my wife & I haven't dined out very often. We can eat healthier for less cost at home. COVID didn't really cause us to make any changes in that regard.

I eat lunch out but when a burger, fries and a drink went to $10.45 at Whataburger I stopped. I now stop at Quick Trip for 2 hotdogs and a Dr. Pepper $4.80 back to what lunch should be.

Let's go Brandon realmad

I try not to but sometimes after a long day that’s just what happens. I can’t hardly take a family of 5 anywhere even the cheapest of fast for for under $40 anymore. A sit down restaurant is easily 60-75 now

For me eating out costs too much all the time and I’d probably weigh 50 pounds more if I did. Wouldn’t surprise me to know I’ll be able to retire 5-10 years sooner because I didn’t eat out every day.

It’s disgusting what we spend eating out for our family of 5. But with 3 kids and basketball 5 days a week I don’t see an out. We live on the go!

Gave that up 22 years ago. Being handicapped and having to use a cane or walker going in to a restaurant is dangerous. Last time I damn near killed a kid that knocked my walker out from in front of me.

You could live somewhere with only 2 or 3 places worth eating out. That makes it simple.

Seguin fits that bill.

We don't eat out very often. I can't stand paying someone else for just an "okay" meal. Any place worth eating out at costs too much. We eat at home mostly.

Where we are, there’s a bit of a shortage of decent places to eat. The wife is sick of our few options, so mostly she cooks. Thankfully, she’s a great cook. Good Mexican food 16 miles away. Good burgers 9 miles away. Good Italian 20 miles off. Chinese is 40 miles off. A good steakhouse is 40 miles off.

Interesting thread. While the cost of virtually everything has gone up food seems to be the only thing that bothers me or has changed my habits. I can certainly afford it and the cost really doesn’t matter but just conceptually I don’t want to pay that much for food.

We’ve cut back on eating out, as well as buying steak and brisket. Kills me, but I ain’t paying 90.00 for a choice grade brisket.
