I have an opportunity to pick up some 182gr cast bullets sized to .312 for my Arisaka. Anyone use cast bullets for hunting? What kind of results do you get (ie do they expand appropriately)? If you load your own what speeds (fps) work best?
Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'd go through the Lyman and Lee books for
cast boolet info
There's also dedicated cast forums

A heavy for cartridge RNFP cast with a gas check and either powder coating or good lube is very effective for hunting. Bullet fit is important so for best results, get a chamber cast or at minimum measure the bore diameter to make sure the .312" fits properly.

Pass the gravy.
