Soil test first. If you have pine trees near the plot, expect that your going to need to add lime.

Be careful of cheap mixes, a lot of them have fillers like high % of rye grass. Rye grass grows fast and looks good, but rarely attracts deers. Before you buy, look at the ingredient label (usually on back, at the bottom) and see what % of the seeds are.

Iron & Clay Peas---plant mid-late May X2 and might be able to plant a little earlier. Depends on the rest of our winter and your location. Plant as thick as your pocket book will allow. Lime and fertilize .
