When I was in college, I didn’t have enough money to leave town, much less leave the country.

The lack of logic in this entire ordeal has been astounding. Maybe it is just our enhanced testing but the US is just as bad if not worse as anywhere else in the world so what risk does travel pose?
I got into an argument with a local doctor over this very issue and I won. I was taking my son to an orthopedic doctor for a football injury and when we got there they had a person asking the typical questions like have you had a fever, felt sick, been around someone infected, etc, and then they asked have you traveled outside the state. I answered yes as the week prior I was in Nebraska. They didn’t want to let me in because of this. At the time the entire state of Nebraska had less cases than our city of 300k people. I told them statistically speaking I was “safer” and less likely to be infected there than if I had been home. This went back and forth for a while and finally the question asker person left to go talk to someone in the back and returned and let me in.

Yup, I see that now. I can see some logic on not leaving the country, but not leaving the county seems a strange demand.
