"The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat" is, to me, the greatest line ever. Certainly the one I remember from years past more than any other. I always think of the guy crashing on the ski jump. Did that always stay the same or did they change over the years? How long did that show run. And thanks for saying it was Saturdays, was my recollection and other thread thought otherwise.
At some point in life its time to quit chasing the pot of gold and just enjoy the rainbow. FR

Back in the good days when they showed hunting on network television. Bing Crosby, Grits Gresham, etc.
Showed deep sea fishing, I vaguely remember one rattlesnake hunt and a man got bit on the leg and they
cut into it the old fashioned way. African safaris, etc.

That was back when there were only 3-4 networks and the whole world went through those networks. Wide world of sports was the show to show us in the US what happened around the sports world....well before the time of ESPN.
Cable TV changed all that and it made shows like WWoS obsolete because you could find a show anytime that had that info on it.

That was when the networks went off the air at night, remember those days of static bars on the old VW sized tubes at night? Now we have 796 tv stations rolling 24/7. That’s when we would slip out the back door and go roam the woods in the middle of the night.

I never missed a that show on the weekends. I'll take you even farther back into the 60's with the Lone Star Sportsman.
