The area I wanted to run my dogs this morning was a helicopter rodeo area. This pic was as I was leaving the ranch, the cowboys had their birds all loaded up.

Works great but costs a bunch.

I would think it’s the easiest and fastest way to move cattle out of South Texas Brush.

'Was on a lease that the LO owned and flew one often. It was a working ranch, I get that, but when you're trying to hunt, you tend to tire of hearing them. Ours was one of 4 or 5 large pastures. Whenever I was hunting, he always seemed to need to do something over/in ours. He wanted the lease money, for sure, but seemed to want to prove the point that it was a "working ranch". Go get 'em cowboy. We took care of our pasture and I, for one, religiously reported water leaks and anything else I saw out of whack. 'Didn't spell the square root of poop. Cranky old square-head. And he's a few years younger than me! But I digress.

'Always felt sorry for the young Mexican boy that always had to go up with him and sometimes be a varmint/predator shooter. That kid had no choice. I can still see the look on his face as he climbed in and they lifted off.

It's not only super effective but need to watch.

I would like to be present for the cowboy work they do.....

A year ago October, I saw two choppers gather 108 cows, their calves & four bulls on over 5,000 acres of brush county. They pulled up on trailers at about 7 AM. We went to a high spot and watched. Could not believe what we actually witnessed. They had everything in the pens in about two hours. They worked the cattle separating the calves, applying whatever chemicals were needed and hauled off the bulls. By 12:30 they were all done.

They can fly totally amazing to watch a good pilot

They use them on our ranch. Lots easier getting them out of the canyons.

I’ve also seen an illegal alien round up put on by the Border Patrol in Webb county. That was an interesting 3 hours in the blind that morning.

It certainly is not without its dangers. Zane Whitesides was featured on Texas Country Reporter and then was killed with another pilot in a crash a few months later. Very sad.
