I am thinking of picking one of these up. Academy has them on sale for 799, and I need a good Auto-loader, just don't have 1500 bucks to shell out on an SBE. Anyone have an opinion on these guns?

I'd get the Gold hunter for that kinda money. You can find them for that price all day and it's a little better.

They don't make the Gold Hunter anymore, not in 12 gauge 3.5 anyway. $799 is a good price for that gun and its a great gun overall.

However, for about $950-1100 you can get you one of the new Browning Maxus shotguns, the Gold's replacement. I have a Gold and plan on purchasing a new Maxus for next season. I have heard nothing but great things about the new Browning.

a hunting buddy of mine has the plain jane silver hunter. i have hunted with it and he has too. great gun, no complaints even during duck blinds. that idiot just didnt clean it after a bay hunt so he has a little rust, but still is very operable.

btw, good price. he paid almost 900 for his.

Razorback, keep me up on hte maxus if you get one. it looks too cool.

I'm a dude who likes long barrels!

Maxus is too much plastic for me. I have the gold hunter and paid $800 for it. I think you could shop arond somewhere like gunbroker and beat 800.
