Federal ammo is the most accurate factory ammo and rivals my best reloads in several rifles but the Federal brass is generally soft and not good for but a few reloads, that said though they make accurate ammo especially in the premium lines.
Remington ammo that shoots good at 100 yards from what I have seen often had vertical dispersion from velocity differences showing up clearly by 300 yards. Hopefully the new Remington ammo corrects that issue. I swore off Remington "deadliest mushroom" ammo after having a 140gr corelock blowup on a 150lb whitetails shoulder from a 7mm-08, found out later that the bullets in Remingtons early loads for that round were not loaded with that bullet but some from another bullets yet sold under that name. In 1982 and 1983 there were several gun rag writeups about that screwup. That buck died from a neck shot with the same load as it was exiting the seen running straight away and the bullet did not exit the neck, found the jacket and fragments of lead was all. Oh well that entered me into loading the Nosler partition for that rifle and it killed everything it was shot at after that all had exit holes.

Look at that poor weight retention. Total bullet failure!

I’m sorry but I’m left laughing at the 200fps spread on a Factory box of Remington ammo. You take an SD like that out to 300+ it’s absolute junk. But hey for the guy shooting from 60-150 who cares and shot placement is everything. As noted Remington Sucked and went bankrupt, The ammunition plant was bought by Vista Outdoor the capital that owns Federal Premium, CCI, RCBS, ETC. the Federal Premium line of ammo is about the only thing I would shoot aside from Hornady if I didn’t roll my own. As a side note something to ponder if you hand load.....VISTA now owns what I would say is 75% or more of all Primer manufacturing in the US, CCI, Federal, and Remington 👀😳😳 Winchester is the only other US made Primer I can think of 🤷🏻♂️

I once got a screaming deal on 2000 150 Grain .308 Remington Core-Lokt bullets. Sorted them all by weight on a digital scale and divided them into batches. They were +/- 2 Grains in weight.
For comparison, Sierra Match Bullets are +/- .3 grains or better and Sierra Hunting Bullets are +/- .6 grains or better.
Hornady Interlocks are better than Core-Lokt in every way, shape, and form, including price. It does not surprise me at all that Remington Factory Ammunition has 200 fps velocity spreads.

What I found as well since I started reloading 10 years ago. Core-Lokts and Power Points were usually 10-15% more expensive than Speer Hot-Cors or Hornady Interlocks. I always used to see posts about how cheap the bullets are but that was not my experience. Never saw a reason to buy them over the others.

I will weigh in on the new Core-lokts. After hunting for the last 40 years and reloading for the last 20 I have always found the Core-lokts to be a surprisingly good entry level bullet for just about any firearm. We have a range on property and have helped dozens of people site-in probably 250+ different guns through the years. Most go with what is readily available and decently priced (but not the real cheap stuff). That is a Core-lokt. The ammo has always seemed to shoot good enough for hunting purposes out of almost any gun. We also have not heard about many deer being wounded with Core-lokts, as they do provide a nice mushroom. The only real issue we found with them was that the tip is real easy to deform and a deformed tip can cause some accuracy issues beyond 200 yards. This new tip should solve that problem. I have probably killed 30-40 whitetails and a few mulies with Core-locks back in the day. Those deer are just as dead as the ones I shoot these days with my own loads and Nosler projectiles. I will probably never shoot a Core-lokt again, but only because I roll my own and know there are better choices out there. But I think the new Remington making an improvement on one of the most popular lines of hunting bullets out there is a good thing.

I have not seen the tipped coreloct ammo but my 30-06 shoots the new production, standard 180 grain core lokt pretty good.
