Had the surgery about 11:30 today. Not much pain, but I’m on the good drugs. Not very hungry right now, but I do daydream about French fries.

Hump day perked me up a bit, though. If one of those lovely ladies came over, about I all could muster up would be the energy to make her a PB&J sandwich.

Think I’ll take a nap. Ya’ll be good…

Take it easy on the spicy and greasy foods for the first few days until you see how your body reacts. Some people should try their first greasy food at home, close to the bathroom. flush

Truth be told, I feel great. If it wasn’t for the 2 weeks of being sentenced to doing nothing, I’d grab a chainsaw. For the last couple months I’ve felt awful - just weak and below par. I had told my wife that something was wrong with me, but had no idea what. I hated to admit that it might be old age. When I was in the hospital for the gall bladder/pancreatitus problem, one of the nurses told me that when she had her gall bladder out she had not realized just how bad she had felt before. I see what she meant. I feel so good.

It remains to be seen how my bowels respond to food. I’ve been eating bland foods, but I am eating. There’s a good bit of gurgling going on right now.

I do appreciate the words and thoughts from you guys, and the info from the other gall bladder-less folks.

603, had mine removed the 30th of December last year. Was back to work on the next Monday, four days I believe. Only issue I had was the staples pulling a little and about two weeks later when the hair started growing back, stuble in the belly area can be annoying….. Oh forgot, first day or two after surgery, shoulders hurt, which I was told they would, do to gas they use to blow up the abdomen for the procedure. Was uncomfortable but didn’t last long. Was told to get up and walk around to help that which I did. Good luck brother!!!!!

68rustbucket, I was having serious pain the night of Memorial Day. Felt like indigestion, but worse. I ate a handful of Tums with no relief. The point of the pain was right under my sternum, in a spot about baseball size. Pain got worse, so off to the local emergency room. Finally got some major IV drugs while they tested blood and such. It was acute Pancreatitus, so they x-rayed and MRI’s my guts and told me that the gall bladder was apparently partly blocking flow of digestive enzymes, which caused them to back up to the pancreas and inflame it. So, long story short, the gall bladder had to go. That was done yesterday, and I haven’t felt this good since before the big freeze. I’m telling ya, I really feel good. It’s amazing.

The only problem I have at the moment is that I feel so darned perky that I’m tempted to do stuff, and I got a stern warning from the doc to do nothing for 2 weeks.

As for the inflation gas, that has not been a problem or a pain. The only pain is the big hole under my sternum that ‘talks’ to me when I sit up or down.

Lots of foods kicked my arse after my gallbladder removal late 90s. If I was going to be on the road, I wouldn’t eat cause I didn’t know how it would rip up my gut. About 6 years ago, a friend and family doc got me on some Prevalite. It’s a small package I mix with orange juice once a day in the mornings. That is a big game changer. I have absolutely no more gut emergencies trying to rush to the bathroom. Never heard of it before him, but if it is an issue after your surgery, damn sure try it. It is a prescription med, but also lowers your cholesterol so that helps at my age too

Dr said no lifting over 100 lbs, for me, other than that,go for it! Again, Best of luck and hoping your procedure goes as well as mine. PS, wife had hers removed five years earlier, by the same doctor, had no issues as well.
