If you have a friend that reloads maybe you could work with them to assemble a safe, published, and workable load for the kids. Hodgdon's H4895 is very useful for reduced loads. I used it when assembling loads for my daughter to shoot in a .270 Win with a shortened stock. Hodgdon on their website at one time had a link about using H4895 in reduced loads.
