930, depending on what you plan on using it for, buy the Pro version if it is in the funds.
I keep two 930 18 1/2" HD models outfitted with chokes by Rose Action Sports on either side of the bed.
Like that ya are happy enough to have 2
Technically will be for work I am really torn between the 930 18.5 barrel with sights( couple different models on their site) and the 590a1 I like the idea of the semi auto
Think I’m gonna buy the wife the 940 Jm pro
i am cancelling my subscription, i am tired of your issues!
I should add, I have only bought them used from pawn shops. Buy them rusty and clean them up, use for a while and sell or give away!
But I have an old 835 with wood stock that is my favorite of all time. It is a squirrel killing machine, have killed them probably past any reasonable distance. Let’s just say far enough away, that I lifted my cheek up a little off the stock for hold over, lol.

My vote is for the 590. It is hard to beat a mossberg pumpgun. I have been misusing and abusing them my whole life.
Very true. My 500 is almost 40 years old and has never ftf in about 15,000 rounds. I put an 18 inch barrel on it for use around the house.
I have Mossbergs and generally like them....but I do NOT like the shell lifter in the 500 series (and like models) for a couple of reasons.
1. The shell lifter is an open design with a 'tab' on it. IF you have a shell with a loaded length of less than 2-3/8"-2-5/16" it can fall through the opening of the shell lifter and jam it, or become jammed on the tap and receiver. I've had both things occur while shooting.
2. IF the shotgun is dropped on its side (safety on) the shell lifter 'can' become dislodged. Try it with your own. Fast forward ahead to minute 4.30 on the first video.
Now....one can make argument as to the likelihood of this happening and present testimony that in all the years and thousands of rounds you've shot, it has never happened. But the fact remains, it can happen.
I've had the 'short shell' jamming the lifter thing happen several times. And it is NOT a matter of not racking the slide hard enough. I've been shooting pump shotguns for over 55 years and I understand how to work them. It's simply a matter of 'chance' and how the shell bounces into the receiver. It is NOT an issue with shells that have a loaded length of 2-3/8" or greater. But certain popular self defense loads fall below this and ALL brands vary slightly one shell to the next. So...just be aware.
