Probably won't be able to shoulder a gun for a week or 2 if you do a lot of shooting.

I heard that Marlin is going to make a goose/dove gun that shoots a 4 inch magnum shell for some people that like to shoot E-xtra long range doves that are in the next county.

The only reason all of yall are bitching about using 3/1/2 for Dove is because you cant afford them. Dove are not worth eating. They are a flying rat. If they had 4 inch i would use them to turn dove into waist

This is too funny. Assumed it was a joke for the ammo shortage until I noticed the length of the thread.
Standard game loads, #6 lead, is hitting just as hard as the 1700 FPS steel #4 out past 40 yards and with probably a better pattern. Shot does crazy things when you push it past 1400 FPS, they zing and zig zag and ricochet off each other in there which creates gaps. Can overcome it somewhat with larger shot but that’s less pattern density.
If you want to hit doves at extended ranges shoot some high velocity #4 lead in a full choke. I bust squirrels at distances I should probably never have tried with my mossberg 835 and Remingtons high velocity green shells, #4 shot.

Oh yeah, and with the standard game loads (Remington black shells) you can afford to miss three to one vs those hypersonic blown pattern shells.

Winchester AA's in 20 or 28 ga. the simple target load, 7/8 oz load or similar. Puts bird in our skillet at the end of the day.

You can kill a dove with IC choke 70 yards with 1oz 7.5 loads. 12 or 20GA. This thread is extremely ignorant…..I hope it’s strictly for entertainment

Tungsten (heavy shot same) or Bismuth (second) ethical kills, more birds in bag, less crippled birds. You shoot half as much. If your not killing at least 50% of shots over a season/ over decoys- take a shooting lesson- it’s not the arrow……. Got off subject, talking dove. 1oz 7.5 will kill anything. 1 1/8 silver bullets too much recoil- not necessary.
