Two of the worst performing school districts (Houston and Dallas) in the state are both mandating masks. Stupidity definitely runs together.

Brainwashing them younger and younger. By high school they will be loyalists.

Pretty sure every Texas ISD gets at least part of their funding from the state. Abbott could show he has some balls if he would withhold funding until they comply. I like it!

Curious how this will play out since the Governor specifically stated school districts cannot mandate masks.

Man, the local Nextdoor site is going nuts over this. Seems to be about 75-25 in favor of masks for kids. Sad, really.

Let me add this to the mask argument. Personally, I doubt that masks are all that effective but our grandkids wore them in school all last year and none of them missed a single day because of illness. I believe the fact that the school district super cleaned the schools every night did more to stop the spread of colds and flu, etc. than the wearing of masks did. I guess what I'm saying is (IMO) something good came from the mask mandate. the mask is to keep the infected from spreading the virus, not keep someone from getting it.

Dont know if masks work but I do know that my kids didnt get sick with anything for a full year at daycare. No flu, cough, sniffle, nothing. If you’ve ever had a kid in daycare you know that doesnt happen. Ever since masks, social distancing, daily cleaning, and handwashing went out the window my kids come home with something every 2 weeks. Last week it was some kind of nasty bug that took me out for 48hrs and I just recovered today. Im all for masks if it keeps my kids coming home with crap and getting me sick.

A lot of people don't like to hear it, but it's an unfortunate fact that kids need to get sick here and there to boost their immune systems. It has always been that way and always will. No one likes to see their children get sick, but it actually does them more good in the long run. Hell, when I was a kid, parents intentionally exposed kids to Chicken Pox to get it out of the way and move on.

Most ISDs get a large percentage of their funds from the Feds and the State. It's how they tax your property, buy big ticket items, and still keep millions in their fund balance. The more the taxes go up the less the ISD gets from the government (over-simplified but in general). Our ISD isn't threatening masks yet because they "comply" with the Governor. But beware of what your ISD is doing while people are distracted arguing over masks...
Pass the gravy.

Abbott is not saying you can't wear a mask. He is saying you can't force the smart ones to wear a mask. Wear your mask and leave us alone.

I like it. Abbott won't do anything about it because it isn't some podunk isd, it is one of the bigger ones in the state. Smile at your kuds at home if you are worried about psychological damage. Lol

Michael Hinojosa is a joke. Wanna bet ol Clay is whispering in his ear? Hinojosa is a joke. They got rid of him once then hired him back, they get what they deserve. I think they pay that lump of flesh north of $340000.00 per year.

Well said What is it that you people don't understand about "Don't tell me how to raise my children"? My youngest kids are not exposed to social media, porn, or drugs yet either. How about I go rip the mask off your kids face and tell you that you can't put a mask on their faces? You might be a bit pissed. You might even pop me in the nose...and if you did, then I would have deserved it for telling you how to raise your kids. Maybe some of you need to be popped in the nose to understand "Don't tell me how to raise my own kids"

Just taking a jab your reasoning thats all. This forum is full of tough hombres, but the cloth will cause psychological harm to the kids. Sticking with the i don't want to and refuse to argument sounds better.

Sticking with the i don't want to and refuse to argument sounds better. Think about the internet dweebs sitting in mamma's basement never getting face to face socialization. Many of them can't cope with face to face interaction becausetheydidn't learn how to. My argument is sound. Besides that, it shouldn't matter what my argument is. They are MY KIDS! You don't get to tell me how to raise them. Neither does some commie bastard school board.

Either send your kids with no mask or don't send them at all. Take a stand either way. Do you and your kids work for the school or does the school work for you and your kids?

Why such a big push on masks? It was never an issue or emphasized for the flue, common cold or more serious viruses in the past. It's feel-good BS in my opinion.
I am still looking for the perfect apron, one with reinforced knee areas would be perfect.
