Put together a 2nd 6.8 upper since I mounted thermal on my original upper. Wanted something a a little different so went with a non reciprocating side charger. Barrel is a Bison with their Bison chamber which spilts the difference in freebore between Spec2 and SAAMI. It's 4 groove 1/11 twist. Went with OdinWorks adjustable gas block. Muzzle device is a cherry bomb for my Q suppressor. I have a whistle tip on it for when It's not suppressed. Lower is POF. It was hot as balls yesterday but sighted it in and adjusted the gas. Shot 3/4" at 100 with S&B 110 PTS ammo. Shot a little worse with PPU 115 HPs. I doubt I will reload for it. I have a lot of the S&B ammo. Now, I can be super tactical and and just switch uppers for night or day hog hunting. This configuration is like a Swiss Army knife. Good for a lot of things like homestead defender, hog/coyote patrol, deer hunting, etc... Just one to grab for going to cabin. I may have a 6.8 compulsion. I have a Ruger 77 and Ruger Mini 14 in 6.8 as well.

Very nice setup. I am still lugging around the AR10 - 12.5lbs with Trail xp50. I've heard such great things about the 6.8 and the weight is unbelievable. I think my only hesitation is not fulling understanding or appreciating the stopping power. The impact of the 308 is undeniable but I just don't have the experience with the 6.8.
Again - very nice setup. Looks like you are right down the street from me - good to see another Eagle!

Nothing wrong with a little 6.8 love!

I also love my 6.8 but I do not love how hard it is to find ammo and the prices recently. Ive got about 5 or 600 rounds of good quality hunting ammo so I am good for awhile. I really need to start reloading soon. I have at least 300 to 400 pieces of once fired brass in almost all of my calibers. I have been saving them up for the day. It just seems like a lot of expense and a lot of time to get started and one thing I dont have is a lot of time.

Nothing wrong with a little 6.8 love! My favorite hill country deer rifle. Here's my 68...

We be found it’s easier to just switch optics. I always carry a backpack to the stand, so I just toss in whatever optic I’m not using at the time (day scope/thermal).

Pertnear..what is the make and model of that rifle that you posted a picture of? I believe that is a Ruger No1 It is a Ruger #3 that I had rebarreled & then fitted with Ruger #1 forend & butt. The #1 stocks fit without any alteration. These rifles rigged this way are often referred to as Ruger #2's. The barrel is a Shilen 22" 1/10 twist & the chamber is a standard spec II. Shoots tiny groups & without a magazine you can seat bullets long. I've been shooting 115 gr & 130 gr Gold Dots. With AR-Comp powder the 130's are launching at 2,600+ fps.

The rifle's total length is 38" with a 22" barrel. Handiest rifle ever to carry or use out of a deer blind.

It has a 16.5" McGowan 1-10 twist threaded barrel. I can get 2550 fps with 130s and AA2200. The mag lets me load them to 2.4 COL. It's 42" overall with a suppressor. Recoils like an air rifle. I'll be hunting with it this season.

Out of the bolt, 2700 fps with 110 TSX or 110 Accubonds. I usually just shoot factory out of the AR and Mini 14. Bolt pic is below. I always shoot it suppressed.
