My son and I are on a hunting lease that offers deer, turkey, hogs & varmits. It's been 5-6 years since I was on a lease. What is a good, dependable game camera that won't break the bank?

Moultries are pretty good. But, here is a hunting website that focuses on evaluating game cameras. Good group of folks. http://www.chasingame.com/

I really like the Cuddeback Capture! I have two of them right now and plan on getting another one in about 2 weeks!
Very simple to use, great pictures, excellent battery life, and very dependable!

Bass Pro has a the Moultrie Game Spy D-40 for $69.99, reg. $109.99 starting this weekend. That's a good deal on a good game cam.

How do you really feel? LOL All I know is, we have Moultrie game cams all over our lease and we've had no problems with any of them.

I'm currently trying the new Bushnell camera with IR flash. I've had 5 Moultries and none of them lasted more than 4 months. I wouldn't take a Moultrie game camera for free. They're that bad. The last warranty replacement they sent me didn't even work out of the box. They screwed up the focus on the one camera that did work and refused to repair when I sent it back to them.

I have the moultrie and mine worked great the first year. The second year the pictures became really grainy and the night pictures are useless. It loses track of the time and date about once a week. The battery life is less than expected. I have spent 3-4 times the cost of the camera in batteries. All that said, it might be worth $69.

I had a Capture for 4 days before it got stolen, so don't really know.
Moultries kept breaking on me every couple months.
Have had the ScoutGuard SG550 since December and I love it. I did have one problem when I bought a different SD card, it kept eating batteries in 3 days with no pictures. As long as I use the ScanDisk cards, it works great.
I average 150 pictures a week and they are great. I have done video with it and they are great. It only costs $199 and is real small. Overall, this is my 8th camera and the best out of all of them.

I've had a Moultrie D40 for about a year now. Alkaline batteries last about a month and I built a NiCad rechargable battery pack for it that last about 3 weeks. Of course battery life depends on temperature and the number of pictures that are taken. The pictures look fine if set to the hightest quality. But then I'm not trying to win a photo contest. I just want to see what is coming to my feeder. It will also take 10 second video clips which are fine for daytime criters. It serves my purpose well. Good luck on your search.

I have also had issues with Moultrie in the past. I currently have 3 Scoutguards going and have had no trouble. They are super small and battery life is great. I may consider trying the new small cam from Bushnell.
