Definitely stay in county with the lawyer if it’s the county I think it is. Outside lawyers are frowned upon.

Sounds to me like, Lawyers ain't the only scum involved here............
Like with most women, "another man involved, on top" is usually how this ends............
Good luck, to the man..............
Trust me...... A man can lose, everything he owns in a divorce..........
And still, come out ahead...........

I had a family member go through a divorce. I swear, the lawyers will make ridiculous demands to keep the couple fighting. The longer the fight, the more money lawyers make.

Yep, and if not on a set fee they will drag it out if given the opportunity. The best way to avoid their fees is to settle. When it comes to alimony or spousal support in Texas judges usually give the women a limited amount of time to better themselves. In my case it was one year and she got a small monthly payment. My ex thought she had it all figured out when she went and gave $5k to the top family law lawyer in Rockwall. My meeting with her lawyer was interesting. She started out playing hardball. After I explained to her that I was a finance professional and did not fall off the apple cart yesterday she settled down.

"The best way to avoid their fees is to settle." Yep. Don't have any personal experience with one of these, but I insure abouts every durn attorney in town. Although that is somewhat scary, the good ones will tell you settle and be done with. Get on with your live, avoid the hassle and quit making opportunities for continues stress.
