I can't figure why the cops shot near the dog to scare him. The didn't teach me that in the Police Academy.

They didn't. That's CYA for panicked, adrenaline fueled, couldn't hit the broad side of a barn, aim.

I wouldn't bet on that yet. I can see how they might do that if the dog is on top of the man and they didn't want to take a chance of hitting him by shooting at the dog.

I've got a couple of old friends still working for the Big Spring PD and I'll probably get the whole story pretty soon but I seriously doubt your explanation for shooting close to the dog was the reason. The lady who lives across the street said the dog was all over this guy, shooting into the pile is probably not the best idea. She also said that was one bloody mess, with multiple people in the pile. It's not the first time the owner and his dogs have had the police called so I expect charges to come from this one.

Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

1/2 the reason I carry a gun (or guns) is for wild dogs.

I ain’t goin out like that.

I hope they throw the dog owner in jail for an extended time.

Dog owners are responsible for their animals. If a wild dog ever attacks me, or my family, I’m shooting the owner & the dog.

Did it occur to you there may have been people nearby and the police were shooting to scare the dog but not kill someone?

Add another covid death to the county ticker.

Funny thing about getting older:
Your eyesight starts getting weaker but your ability to
see through people's BS gets much better.

The dog is actively mauling his arse. I don't think he mind if you took that risk. That dog should have been dispatched immediately. He might be still alive today.

They shot near the dog to scare him. If there were people nearby, and they feared they would hit an innocent party, they would not have shot at all. Next!

I agree. The dog should have got a cap bust in his arse. I don't think cops shoot near perpetrators when other people are around.

Be a shame if that abandoned house were to burn down.
