I have decided that I am going quail hunting this thanksgiving instead of driving to the inlaws and dealing with National Lampoons Thanksgiving. My wife and daughter are going. Boy, is she mad!
Anyone else going hunting this thanksgiving?

Yes. But I am a good boy. We drive to Amarillo from Dallas each year on Wed. Spend Thanksgiving with the family and then I take off Friday morning and meet my friend and his family in Turkey for some quail hunting in the morning and afternoon and then sit in the blind about an hour before sunset. I will only go Friday this year and not hunt Sat. Sleeping arrangements are crazy since they have about 15 people at their aunt/uncles place. We slept in some cabin on Lake McKenzie last year and got sick as a dog. I can't wait.

I haven't been to Christmas or Thanksgiving for MANY years. My mom got hacked off for a while but now she is used to it. She still won't let Dad sneak away till Friday afternoon. My wife has never had a problem with it. Guess I'll be the only one at my lease till sometime Friday afternoon.

I eat Thanksgiving Dinner w/ the family @~noon. The truck will be packed and ready for a quick departure. At least I don't leave the truck idling in the driveway!

Steve, you are a brave man, my wife puts up with alot of my hunting and fishing ordeals, but that's not a good time for me to push it.

That is a tradition for us as well, John...we used to sneak out and hunt Christmas morning and be back home by 9......then folks moved and started having kids and that stopped...so we have to settle for Christmas Eve hunt and the Thanksgiving Day hunt. Lots of fun!

I will miss it this year to go deer hunting..but the week of Thanksgiving, I hunt every morning.

The wife and I will be headed to Lubbcok from Ft Worth on Wednesday night. Eating a good dinner on Thursday in Lubbock, then Friday morning, we'll have the dogs warmed up and chasing bobs around Snyder. Probably a deer hunt that evening. The wife will be hanging out with the family all day while I'm gone.

Although I have missed very few Thanksgivings with the wife and inlaws I have never spent new years with my wife in 18 years. As a matter of fact I can never remember being home on new years in my life.
