Im thinking on building a long range rifle. I have always heard that mausers was great to use for the action. If any of you guys have info about this let me know. I want to try and do this before the gun laws get anymore strict. sanderson5546@yahoo.com

You should put this question in the firearms forum, may get more responses there.

I have built a few Mausers and the have turned out well. Brownell's has just about everything you need to build a Mauser.

Most of the folks I know that do 1K yards, use Rem 700 actions as a start. They swear by 'em and say they're as tough as nails.

Buy you a custom action. ie a surgeon, steiner etc. By the time you buy a remington 700 action and have it trued and squared you can get a custom for only about 100 more. Then you will have a much better rifle thats worth a WHOLE LOT more. jmho

Some 600 yard record was recently set on a Savage action. There's a pretty tight, well informed, and very helpful Savage shooter's community.

Just buy a Remington Sendero in whatever caliber you like. If it shoots to your satisfaction (Highly likely!), you're good to go. If not, have a gunsmith tweak it until you're happy.
