A shooting bench with gun rest? I'm wanting to build one (wood) instead of buying a rest and putting it on a table. Don't even know if anyone here has made one. Just searching... Thanks!

Hi Cuz, Here is a great bench I built for our lease. The gun rest part could use some improvement however. We use sand bags or 4X4 and 2X4 wood blocks. Or you can just aet your portable gun rest on it. Down there in the shadows at the other end is our 100yd target board. This sucker is 9 inches in the ground, screwed and glued, it ain't going anywhere. I like it because it is ambidextrous, sturdy as a rock, easy to get in and out, no climbing over anything, or a spotter can set with you and call the shots. And, well, because I made it.
Good Hunting, Gary

Very nice. You don't happen to have plans for that do you? I am sure I could build it but without plans it won't look like that.

http://www.horstguns.com/ShootingBench.htmI got the plans from the link above. I modified them a bit, 6" wider, 6" longer than the plans. I built it in the garage in 3 sections, top, front legs, back legs/seats. I took it to the lease, buried it 9" and screwed and glued it all together. I think I had about $200 in materials.
Good Hunting, Gary

I built 2 out of bench press benches (found on curb) Just put a 2x4 where the bar bell goes and screw a board on top of the 2x4

Thats a nice bench you made, looks real steady.
