Glad there is an Academy half mile from Gander in Sherman, they are higher than a cat's back on their prices, I only go there when I can't find it elsewhere.

Yeah Gander Mountain will price themselves into bankruptcy. The moultrie D-40 cam that can be bought for 89 bucks at walmart, gander mountain wants 130 for.
30 bucks is too much for a moultrie camera much less 130

I went into the GM in College Station and was going to buy a box of Nosler .30 150gr balistic tips (50 per box), They had them marked $49.95 for just bullets not the loaded type just Bullets. I walked out and have never went back! I came home and ordered some from Midway for $17.95 a box!

Ok. In all fairness I must say that the manager from the store where I had the problem has contacted me via email and seems genuine in lookig into the situation w/ the ridiculusly priced rifle. He has asked me for my barcode from the rifle I got from Wal Mart to compare it w/ their records. He thinks they may have an error in their system. The arrogant [censored] that helped me originally would not hear of it when I told him that might be a possibility. Even if it is an error from the responses that I have had from this post it seems like this happens fairly regularly with GM and that says alot about the way they run their business. On another note I bought a scope for the riflr a Nikon Monarch 4.5*x20 w/ Bdc reticle at Bass Pro for $525 then went to Wal Mart and found out they can order me one for $420. Guess what's going to be returned to Bass Pro?

Let me guess. The first guy that bumped the price on you owns 5000 acres in Maverick county, which he flys to on the weekends in his jet and has several confirmed kills at 1000 yards with his many rifles. Heck he probably owns one of everything in the store. Anyone else ever met "that" guy?

Manager from GM has not gotten back with me. I guess he looked into it and also came to the conclusion that GM is high as hell.

I like gm because all the long guns are out where I can handle them without any hassle from the employees... so my buying process is this:
step 1 go handle and feel the guns at gander. decide what I like and such...
step 2 do some looking around my area and find the best price
step 3 laugh all the way to the range about the $$$ saved by shoping some where else.
I donno about yall but thats how i do it most times.. but I have found a decent deal here and there at gander while in step 1
learn something new everyday and you will have never wasted a day.

I like going to GM and looking but I dont buy from them. Academy is next to GM in College Station and so I buy from them. I dont know about guns and big stuff, but ammo, spotlights, and all other small stuff is always cheaper at Academy.

I have been looking for a savage model 22-250 BTCSS for a while and have not been able to find anyone that had one in stock. The price has ranged from $792 to $850. I went to Gander Mountain to try my luck there. They told me they could order one from their distributor and have it to me in a couple days at a price of $802. Great right that price is reasonable, I have seen them at that price but not in stock. After getting a credit application and going back to the gun counter the man informed me that he told me the wrong price and the gun was $1070. I said that has to be wrong because that is higher than the MSRP on Savage's website. He looked again and confirmed his price of $1070. I told him that the price was nowhere in the vicinity of where I had been seeing and he told me I should not believe those other prices until I actually had the gun I wanted in hand. I said fine and I left. Two weeks later I have the gun and I got it special ordered at Wal-Mart for $792. I have always thought that Gander mountain had high prices but this put the icing on the cake for me. I hope this story persuades others to shop elsewhere if possible. I emailed Gander Mountain about thisbut I don't expect that they will respond. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" /> Ok. field of dreams, call me, see what we can do for you on that Nikon, sure selling a lot of them these days and getting good prices. Get me the four digit number for Nikon's and I will see if we can beat that price.
If its 8425 (from your discription) it would be $414 shipped to your door...

Yeah Gander Mountain will price themselves into bankruptcy. The moultrie D-40 cam that can be bought for 89 bucks at walmart, gander mountain wants 130 for. 30 bucks is too much for a moultrie camera much less 130 Amen to that! I am now on my fifth camera being sent back to them for display problems. At least they are fixing it no questions asked.

I went in to the Gander Mountain in Sherman this past Wednesday in search of hand loading supplies. I was already in Sherman on some other business and thought I'd try Gander and maybe they'd have some large rifle primers and some powder that I was looking for.
They had 7 trays of LR primers alright, for $7 each. The same primers my neighbor picked up for me at Bass Pro for $3 per tray. They didn't even have the rifle and pistol powder I was looking for. Everything else I checked prices on was way more expensive than Academy. Especially ammunition.
I probably won't ever go back into a Gander Mountain again.

You'd think since the gun grab scare is over they'd back off their prices. Nope! A plain Jane box of umc pistol ammo is going to be around $40 and a box federal premium is almost $60.
