Who has had bone spurs in the shoulder, and what did you do about it?

My CBOC VA Doc here in Palestine had his PA give me some shots of something they had just started using. It can be given every 4 months as needed as I recall and is instant relief with 100% vertical and horizontal extension and rotation for the 1st time in the 9 years since a non malignant 22 oz tumor removal , but interferes with my glaucoma meds according to my Glaucoma Surgeon in Temple.

I have not "needed" another dose since the initial shot early last Fall, trying to "balance" the 2 conflicting meds, but might decide to get another shot later this year as the restrictive pain levels have started over, but are still tolerable. The PA put the needle in the left side gap of the right shoulder's ball joint from behind. The bone spur diagnosis was confirmed by my Cardio Doc during a heart stress test while under an X ray looking at the stents in my heart and blood flow levels during the stress portion of the procedure. VA Dallas and VA Temple have refused to survey the 4 stents that were put in 10 years ago when I refused to allow them to do a Triple Bypass, with it's long term recovery and potential for a more limited lifestyle, and inability to do another bypass if needed, unlike stents.

If it's causing inflammation or impediment they will just take it off. There is the cortisone shot but it should never be used for joint inflammation because it kills cartilage

I had a big bone spur in my right shoulder. It showed up a year or so after the rotator cuff surgery on that shoulder. They scoped it and took the bone spur out.

I had one on the ‘traffic signal” finger of my right hand, where the finger gripped a tennis racquet. I changed racquets some years back and the spur went away mostly. Never have figured that out.

I have other bone Spurs or bone growth. From my Mom I inherited some named bone growth issue, the name of which I don’t remember. If you have it, you will have extra pointy elbows. That’s the most obvious and earliest sign you have it.

Depends on where the bone spur is. Had one in my left shoulder that was rubbing on my bicep tendon. Always hurt. Doc cut it loose, ground the spur down, sutured up the frayed tendon end, and re-anchored it in the bone with a screw. Took 6+ months before I got back to semi-normal, and another six before I really felt good. Still worth it.
