Sorry I have not made a feeder in over 10 years, my partner in crime has passed on. But a few questions, does the motor stick, like it is froze up? If yes, a drop of 3 in 1 oil on the shaft might help that. Dust in the motor was another issue that killed some of ours, Get a can of computer spray, and try to blow out the dust. These were the most common problems we encountered.

Thank you. Yes they freeze up. I was thinking it was from a big load of corn. I will try your suggestions for sure.

Try some of this WD40 dry lube https://www.wd40.com/products/dry-lube/
Remember just a DROP, you do not want to drown it.
This would be a good applicator. https://www.amazon.com/Titan-Tools-15200-Precision-Oiler/dp/B002LYQALQ

Have been running lifetime warranty, On Time feeders for over twenty years. Anolog run on one double A for the clock, and 10 double A for motor. Digital run run on 10 double A batteries, and both will run for 10-12 months if you use good batteries. Have only had a couple issues with them, contacted On Time, they replaced with only shipping cost on part. Very pleased with there product and support! Just my 2cents

I’m of the same opinion on 12 volt motors. Last longer and easier to find parts/batteries.

Voltage makes no difference, it's all about hp and rpm. higher hp and rpm 12v motors are more common, but there are 6v motors out there capable of doing the same amount of work as 12v. the only real difference is, when hp and rpm are the same, a 6v motor will pull twice the amps that a 12v motor does (ohm's law). The 12v batteries typically used have roughly twice the amp hour rating as the smaller typical 6v batteries do. So theory says a 12 setup would last longer before the battery goes dead. Not really a concern either way for a motor running a few seconds a day if the battery is on a solar panel. But wire two 6v batteries together in parallel and you double the AH rating, and are back on even ground again.

Been using the biggest 6v motors I could find. Never had an issue, did it solely because I had 6v solar panels and batteries at the time. Spins hard enough to hurt. I think the major ding again 6v is the large volume of junk 6v feeders.

As long as you can fit 2 6V batteries in that spinner wired parallel, yes. Most of the time it's no.

I build my own and use 50cal ammo cans, so plenty of room. And if you can fit a larger 12v battery in the housing, you can usually cram 2 of the smaller size 6v batt's in its place.

Admittedly, I do build mine around 12v components simply because they are easier to find. I was just making a point that voltage alone does not determine the amount of work a motor does, and how any perceived disadvantage of a 6v setup can easily be overcome.
