Anybody have a problem pumping gas into their Dodge Ram. No matter what station I go to, no matter how far I stick the nozzle in the tank or the angle inserted the dang pump shuts off before I can even get a gallon into the tank. Tell me I'm not the only one with this experience and if there is a solution to the problem other than selling the truck.

Don’t recall having that issue with those half tons, but I have had issues with filling up other Rams, like the 5500’s.

I have a jeep, that does the same thing.................. Try not sticking the nozzle, so far down the fill tube................ Air must be able to escape, as your filling the tank............... or the Back pressure will trip the nozzle.....................

I have gone as deep as it will allow and anywhere up and above with no success. I even try turning the nozzle at different angles

On the GMC's there's a filter the tank vents through and if it gets dirty and plugged the nozzle will kick back, sounds like the same problem. I run over 100-150 miles a day down dusty dirt roads and have to clean mine 2 to 3 times a year.

Yes....same issue. Switched to filling up 5 gallon cans and then using a funnel to fill it up. It was taking 30 minutes or more just to fill a tank of gas at the pump.

I don't have any problems with mine, but it's a 2019 2500 (gas) so it may be a different setup.

Did you guys have warranties on these 2018s, and experience the issue while under warranty?

Supposedly there's a vent in the filler tube that opens and closes automatically, and it's designed to close in a roll over to prevent gas from siphoning out all over the crash...I got that from a gear head place so it sounded logical but yet unverified...

They have two flappers in the fuel neck, mine has given me the issue occasionally. Usually i find that trying to stick it in as far as you can causes the issue. Try pulling it out a little and or rotating it from side to side. Also filling on less than full blast will help.

My 08 gas F250 had the same dust issue. Carbon canister under the fuel tank was clogged. Not sure if your Dodge is similar, but might explore if you have been in extreme dust.

Mine does it only when I let it get below 1/4 before filling only.

Are y'all leaving the engine running?
Seen a gas engine Ram ambulance that wouldn't take fuel with the engine running. Turn off the engine and it would take fuel as fast as you could put it in.

4 of our Ram 2500-3500’s do it, the only ones that fill correctly are the flatbeds with 50 gallon tanks. No clue as to why other than the vents are bigger on the big tanks.

Some of the guys on the "Ram Forum" had the same problem and the dealership fixed it. The Ram Forum is a very good source of information.

My 19 does it. It’s been to the dealer several times. They have replaced the tank twice telling me that was the issue. I’m on tank 3 and still does it. I’ve noticed it is way worse if I’m under a quarter tank. Once I get 5-6 gallons in it seems to pump just fine.
