Anybody got one, what can you tell me about them. I'm gonna start looking around at them. From what I hear you kind of have to shop to get the really nice looking wood. But they say they are all above average in cosmetic appearance. Can't decide if I want a 20 or 12. I have an 1100 12ga. and my boy has a Ithica 12ga. So I was kind of leaning towards the 20 however they say the recoil is a little worse with the 20 because it is lighter. Any info is appreciated.

from what i hear they are excellent guns. almost bought one in 12 gauge but decided that i needed the extra shot in the 870. if i get another shotgun it will be one in 20 gauge

I bought 1 on sale last year @ Academy, 20ga O/U, maple stock I believe, takes up to 3" shells. My gun wasn't finished out, so I teaked it. You r right about the recoil, it is nice & light-----well constructed & attractive. U get 5 chokes with it. I will need to go to thicker recoil pad as the 1 on it is a little thin, & my shoulder was sore after 50 shots @ Elm Fork last week. It could be that I am out of shape (tee hee) . Any way. I've got 175 shots @ the range so far & will use it this dove season, my other gun is a Mossberg 835 12 ga. that takes 2 3/4 to 3 1/2" & it has been muy bueno for duck.
If u do finish the stock/fore arm out urself, remove them. Duh, I teaked it after I assembled it & had cleaned & oiled it & forgot the teak oil will run & gum inside. It wasn't a problem cleaning it & re-oiling, but it was sure embarressing when i took it to the range last week & only the top would fire & not the bottom. A nice gentleman suggested reclean & oil it, as he knew what i had done. That's why I'm still a lightfoot. I do love the feel & the way it shoots, for sure!!

I got the 20 gauge O/U also, put a Limbsaver recoil pad and HiVis sight in the front, only other gun I got better than that was my remington 11-87 upland special 20 gauge that was stolen when I was in college, but the Yildiz is a great gun for the money.

HHUUMMMM, what to write, what to write, I got nothing.

Great Gun, well worth the money. I have gotten several compliments on mine at Elm Fork while shooting with the League guys. It shoots better than me.

Sounds like I need to get one. I think the wood is Walnut if I'm not mistaken. If you fellows are in an Academy and see a 20 or 12 for that matter with good wood let me know. I stopped by the one on 75 in Plano and wasn't impressed by the 20 they had. They did have a 12 special with the engraving that had some really nice wood. But I don't want to spend $600, the $400 one is the one I'm after.

I have seen them within last 2 weeks at Academy on tollway in Plano and at the one on 75 and Forest...that is why I keep asking about them too. I try and alternate bewteen the 2 stores so they won't think I am a complete nut or report me to Homeland security.

The sad thing is i picked up the engraved 20 ga O/U last year (late fall) for under $386 + the tax. The wood is walnut, I mispoke & said maple the other day. I also had the barrels reversed according to sniper John, I had the top going 1st & bottom 2nd, it was explained to me how the lower barrel shoots hi intentionally for recoil etc. & the upper barrel shoots flat. I was able (again sniper john) to figure out how to change the top/bottom shooting & can't wait to try it again. I am looking forward to the new recoil pad, though.

Did you get the special (engraved) or the other. what's the wood look like. I don't know about the so called gun pros at Academy. I've been into about 4 stores looking, they'll have a gun out and a couple in boxes, when I ask to see the ones in the boxes they all say why. I tell them I want to look at the wood characteristics. They act all put out and tell me there is no difference. The other day at a Plano store salesman said the same thing. I promptly pointed out a Remington they had on the shelf with 2 more same make and model right beside it. The one had almost white wood (blonde) the others were very dark. Asked him to explain that and he walked off from me THE CUSTOMER. Went to get my haircut yesterday in Whitewright and low and behold a boy that works at Academy in Plano was in there getting his done. I talked to him about the guns and he said he would keep his eyes open for a gun with nice looking wood in the unengraved one. He also said they were probably going to have a promo again where you get the free case with a purchase. He did say they never know when or what guns they are getting. Just have to look at the truck every morning. He said the promo should be happening within the next couple of weeks.

My gun was machine engraved w/2 ducks on each side along with a little more stuff. My wood was almost a rose color (red oak style), it was unfinished & I used Teak oil to stain & finish ot out. I won't use a sealer on it other than the teak. The fore arm is checkered very nicely & the color of the stained wood is med brown with nice grain patterns. I forgot, I too recieved a 2 gun case w/ that purchase, they said retail $79, but I've seen them for $39 somewhere.

"I own a shotgunning website with 20,000 + members and the majority of opinions from folks that have purchased the semi-auto's is that they are not worth the money."

"Beretta 390 or 3901, Remington 1100, Yildiz O/U, Remington SPR series guns are more likely to give you trouble free ownership."
From the Daly part of the forum, referring to auto loaders.

I don't own a shotgunning website, but thought this was interesting
