This stuff freaks me out sometimes. I don’t use Facebook. My wife does. I was looking at some Kuiu jackets on my phone last night. Never said the word or anything other than browsing their website on my phone.

I am sitting here watching the Clemson Ohio game with my wife and she asks me what is K U I U? I was like what? She said she saw an add on her Facebook for a jacket and thought I would like it.

Creepy.

I know it listens to us too somehow. A few weeks ago I was talking to her about metal art, the custom cut out signs. Neither of us searched for anything and she started getting ads for metal signs.

Walmart does the same thing with their facial recognition. I got stuff in the mail just because I looked at it.

KUIU is the one paying them to do it. Online vendors are the ones who pay them to put ads up when you look at their websites.

KUIU is the bomb. I own a lot of their gear.

I like what those websites put in my ads.

I had read an article a while back where somebody left their phone in front of a TV turned to a Spanish speaking program and they started getting Facebook ads in Spanish.

I was having the exact same issue, you can go to Facebook and adjust your settings to fix this.

To turn this setting on or off:
Click in the top right of Facebook.
Select Settings & Privacy, then click Settings.
In the left column, click Privacy.
Click "Edit" next to Do you want search engines outside of Facebook to link to your profile?.
Review your current settings and make your selection.

Yes, Alexa and Smart TVs are also capable of spying.

I am sure they are the ones paying but how did it make the jump from me searching for it on my phone to my wife’s Facebook when I don’t even use Facebook? It wouldn’t surprise me as much if all this was happening on the same device.

It was connected wanted or not.

Also turn off Face Time on your phone. That cured the problem for me.

Why does any of this bother you? Get solicitations which are random or those based on your perceived preferences? All should be strong enuff to sift through if not totally ignore the advertising which is directed to you.

Phones, radios, televisions, games, any kind of electronics that have advertising and marketing are connected.

It's only a matter of time before a toaster or coffee pot spies on us.

Texas is primarily a fence out state. It's your responsibility to guard your privacy and not to allow others to punk you based on your own inclinations.

I have all that turned off. Doesn't change much. Ever watched Social Dilemma? It's a must see along w/another 1 or 2 on the subject, outed by the people who created it & pushed it for years until they finally realized how bad what they were doing really was.

If stuff mysteriously and coincidentally pops up, they’re seeing something somehow.
