I was wondering if anyone has seen an increase in rattle snakes lately. With it being as hot as it is, we may see more of them. I’m driving up to our lease in Junction tomorrow to check the feeders, while I’m wearing my new Snake Boots I just bought.
Here is a picture of a rattle snake that was emailed to me yesterday. Email stated this snake was killed in Odessa, but it looks like a Python to me.

Talked to my dad the other day and he said he has killed more this summer than in the past couple years. I know he was killing around 30-40 a summer so..I am not sure what his numbers are up to this year.

since moving to S.A. I've only seen 1....and that was at the lease in East Tx. Since I'm hunting out towards Hondo now, I keep expecting to find one walking out through the brush, but so far, nothing but a bunch of moccasins.

I hunt near Hondo and I havent seen a snake in 9 years until this year 1 killed our dog. I was thinking the pigs have had alot to do with this.

we have killed in the neighborhood of 40 about 8 miles east of Hondo (at least thats what the road sign says). The 2 big ponds on the place are holding plenty of the jokers. Only one I've seen away from the pond was one I'm assuming was a coach whip that was about 6.5' long, bout as big around as a broom handle and a solid creme color. I found it as I walked up to a t-post to set up a dove decoy.

Yeah I saw a couple of those big racers up here the other day. Those things get crazy long.

Well its not so unlikely that a man could walk up on a Python like that, people are dumping them because of feeding prices, or just the fact that it got too big and aggresive. Heck Florida has such a problem with it in the glades they just established permits for hunting and capturing pythons. Skinner

That snake looks like it ate one of those swimming pool noodles.
