Was at deer camp on our property in ET today and didn't feel like hunting in the rain so put a canopy over our shooting bench and started banging steel with my Savage 223. I put 10 shots on a 5" plate at 500 yds. I let my buddy take shot number 11. Pretty happy with the results.

That’s good for a 22 bullet at 500.

And then I shot this 9" 5 shot group at 100 yards with my AR 15 350 legend. I can't figure this thing out.
I've tried several different hand loads and this is the best one. I've even changed the barrel from the original CMMG to a Faxon to no avail.

Is the barrel bedded to the upper?

Great shooting there, fellow 223 fan. I love how on your label under range, it says "cabin."

I have been playing with some 75gr elds and 70gr rdfs hoping to shoot senior's 500yd match with it. This is giving me confidence it's doable.

I'm a dude who likes long barrels!

Yes sir, I bedded the Faxon with Loctite 620. I even lapped the receiver face.

That's what I did when I shot this group, I replaced the Sightron Wraith I used previously with a know accurate scope to eliminate variables. Still not grouping. I'm at a loss what to do. Could it be the BCG? My son has a very accurate AR15 in 223 he built. Thinking of asking him if I can borrow his BCG and give it a try.

Funny you should say that. I haven't shot my Savage 223 in a while so I took it out to see if I could hold my own in Senior's match. This group was was shot using a home made bench rest that I like. I need to practice using a bipod as I usually don't shoot from a bipod and may not have as good a result. Also, the wind is light at our cabin in the woods in ET, not sure how It will hold up in the wind at 500 yds back in DFW.
