Ever wonder why your UPS tracking shows packages doing strange stuff...like being our for delivery for several days? This may be why!

I saw the following at a CubeSmart self storage location in NW Fort Worth this morning:

At least 8 (in view) Uniformed UPS employees loading and unloading packages from several different storage units into a U-Haul truck and multiple personal vehicles.

They were not just loading or unloading, it appeared to be a sorting operation. They had hundreds of large boxes, but nothing smaller than a box like copy paper would come in (hence my guess it is ups ground). Some were stacked in open storage units, many were lined up (organized) outside the storage units. It had the appearance that a large truck had been unload and they were sorting packages into storage lockers or the personal vehicles that were lined up.

The guy shown below sorting and loading is in a UPS uniform.




The drivers of the bronze suv and the white pickup are in UPS Brown uniforms.

The U-Haul truck and more personal vehicles were lined up around the corner, with more uniformed UPS workers working in front of another open storage unit.

If all this was not strange enough, I watched for several minutes and there was not sign of a handheld scanner or the tablets that UPS drivers normally use. I appeared all of this was taking place with no tracking.

So are you saying it was stolen goods?

Did you contact the proper authorities?

Not uncommon this time of year. 99.9% chance it’s all legit.

I have a huge storage unit in McKinney off 380/Custer, they have been renting units in the storage unit for years this time of year, pretty common.

Yeah furniture places etc do drops all the times to these places.............I always figured it was the easiest way to move dope across the country. Nobody thinks anything about seeing an Ashley Furniture or Killer Daves bread truck at the storage facilities.


I know there are 2 places here that they aint slinging furniture or bread just over the red river.

They have delivered items to us in U-Haul trucks recently. Several times.

With the see of brown shirts, I assumed that it was a legit UPS operation...the thing that gets me is there was no sign of boxes being scanned as they were put into pickups, suvs, and cars. Since they have storage lockers, I assume they are storing packers there, while awaiting minions to deliver them.

What are the chances every one of those boxes were scanned as delivered when they unloaded them at the storage unit.?

That seems pretty shady for a multi billion dollar company especially since they weren’t scanning packages. I can somewhat understand using a U-Haul to deliver packages but storing shipments in an offsite location doesn’t seem like a very secure way to handle people’s orders. This does give me some insight as to why I’ve had several orders recently show out for delivery and they never showed up.

This Christmas is a logistical nightmare from everything I've heard, UPS and FedEx are having record years. All hands on deck!

So far they have done an excellent job getting thing delivered.

Its common for carriers to use storage units. Actually, a lot of carriers are 3PL so they fill those orders themselves.

I worked for UPS from early 70's through early 80's. That company is extremely efficient with everything they do. When they started here they leased about four bays of the back shop of the local Chevrolet dealership vs. building a new building.

For the last 2 weeks our UPS delivery driver has been driving a brand new blacked out Jeep Gladiator Rubicon. She has no teeth but does wear the brown clothes. Odd.

Our UPS guy showed up Friday in his regular brown truck with a large U-Haul truck following him. Said he had 3x the normal packages to deliver that day.

If you plan on ordering for Christmas better get those orders in soon, it's only going to get worse.
