I've read many on the interweb claim 3100-3150 with 105-107 grain bullets in the old 243 win. Is that real? I don't know. I'm sure they are pushing the edge of pressure if so. May depend a bit on what barrel length its being fired from also.

I hate how it makes you vote to see results.
The first rifle I bought my wife was a package Savage in 243. Tried corelokt and hornady whitetail, both 100gr. We settled on the hornady. Works well enough on the range and the few mentioned sized game (a doe, a couple pigss and a gator). We just don't know any better because we've literally haven't tried anything else. This 100gr whitetail has gotten the job done in the limited usage.
I'm a dude who likes long barrels!

70 gr HP Match because that's what the gun likes. 90-100 gr bullets it won't shoot. Do you know your twist rate? My bet is it is fairly relaxed, thus the reason it doesn't like heavier (longer) bullets. It's a Ruger M77 tang safety I purchased new in 1983 don't know the twist. Any ideas? Find your twist rate with a cleaning rod, jag, and patch. If you don't know how, I can explain it.

That's so you are not swayed by other votes. Don't be a sheep. And, I checked the box that makes it that way. Don't like the poll, start your own.

90gr Sierra TGK and H4350 at about 3350 FPS is the way to go. It will shoot sub moa out of my stock Tikka. I dropped a whitetail in its tracks just the other day with this load. I can’t wait to get a chance to stretch it out and see how well it shoots at longer distances. The BC is .490 3350? That is moving! I'm intrigued by that combination, I have a 700 ADL and a 788. Is your COAL pretty standard? As for history, we've killed ~300 whitetails with 100gr corelokts. I quit using them when the accuracy went away (more than one rifle). My COAL is 2.745 which is the max for my magazine

90gr Sierra TGK and H4350 at about 3350 FPS is the way to go How much H4350? Thats got to be above normal 243 pressures to get that speed? I haven’t seen any pressure signs, I based my speed off of a ballistic calculator, 100 yard zero and 8” of drop at 300 yards which is the furthest I could shoot that day. I plugged in the info on the calculator and played with the speed until the calculator matched what I saw on paper. Once deer season is over I plan to shoot it at longer ranges and refine my dope but it’ll work for now. Or maybe Santa will bring me a chronograph

Or maybe Santa will bring me a chronograph FYI, you can have you speed plugged in 200 fps wrong and still be matching the calculator at 300 yards. I really don't hone in on MV until I get to 600 yards, typically. I've got a chronograph, but I trust DOPE to 800 yards more. I get it, not everyone has that available to them.

Once deer season is over and I can guarantee that I’m the only one on the lease I plan to shoot 350-750 yards to a tank dam to get more accurate dope

I have two Ruger 77 Tangers and both required a bit of tuning and glass bedding to get them to shoot. Especially the 257 Roberts. I would look into that before I was stuck with one bullet weight.

Pull is flawed forget bullet weight and look at construction Clearly you have not looked for bullets for sale this year. No one can be that picky right now. Lol, good point,

The real question is will you be able to load something not heavy for caliber? The 280AI and 7wsm are the only two I've seen you vary...you shocked me when you did them both

So yes, I will load what will work for most. (.280 A I. Is the only one that wasn't loaded heavy. The 7 WSM got 180's )

This has been an interesting read, but I do wonder why the interest in what bullets are being used in the 243.

The real question is will you be able to load something not heavy for caliber? Its hard to go back to the light fast bullets after shooting the high bc ones. So much easier to connect at distance, and still great expansion if you pick the right bullet. My Berger VLD's still fragment rapidly at extended ranges.
