Gang-
I traveled to DFW in 2012 or so to buy a 6.8spc AR build that a guy posted here for sale, I've had it ever since. I think that we met at Bass Pro or Cabela's- can't remember for sure. As I remember he was selling it around Christmas so it could have been 2011- his wife wanted a new fancy television so he sold the rifle to me and I assume bought the TV for his bride.
Some time after that he contacted me, told me he'd love to buy it back someday if I ever decided to sell it. Well, that day has come. I've searched and searched and searched and searched until I'm blue in the face and I just can't find the dang listing.
I'm not listing it for sale here or anywhere else yet- I'd like to honor my commitment but I've searched my brains out and cannot find the guy. I bookmarked a link to the listing and I've dug through everything I can find and cannot locate the link. A couple of days ago I think that I somehow managed to bungle through the google and found a link to the original listing- I cannot reproduce that search and can't find it.
I'm hoping that someone here, ideally the seller sees this and contacts me. Maybe someone even remembers the listing, I don't know.
It's a very nice rifle, he really didn't want to sell it but sometimes we do stuff for others- and I'm positive that he regretted selling it because he told me so.
Any help is appreciated and if this doesn't go here- no problem, I'll move it or a mod can do the same but I can't find an appropriate place to post this here that he's likely to stumble upon.
For the life of me I don't know why I would have ever cleaned out my PM box but apparently somewhere along the way I did. I think I remember part of his handle here but I'm not going to post it because I'm not sure and I don't want to influence anyone's memory.
It's a longshot but like I said- we are only as good as our word and for all I know he'd love to buy it back.
EDIT: I did find the link I saved, the heading was Loaded Rock River 6.8spc and the post number was 2528697
Thanks,
Kevin

...from 1/24/2012, you stated:
"Met up with ponchomike yesterday- solid guy and bought the gun with no problems at all. He's a good one."

Thanks guys. I looked high and low at my posts but I was looking for 6.8 as a keyword, didn’t think to look at that one.
I have bought two or three firearms here, hopefully you found the guy. If not I’ll keep digging.
Frustrating that I had a link to the classified post, still do but it’s gone. I kept it because he went into great detail as to what was included in the build.
Thanks again, will follow up with whether we’ve found him.

I’m bumping this again, hope to get lucky and find him. I just remember that he regretted selling it, I sure wish I could locate post 2528697. Seems like his handle was something like a name...in it, don’t think it was a firstname/lastname but maybe a first initial/last name but I’m just shooting in the dark here. I know one guy personally here and the only handles that really stick out are stexasranchman and JPfireman (or close). Ranchman because of his depth and breadth of knowledge and willingness to share and the other because I took a shooting class from him and it was phenomenal. I’ll try to dig him up one other way but I’d sure like to reunite him with his build. He was quite proud of it but he really wanted to do something nice for his wife at the time...so he gave up his prized possession. He called me on the way home wanting to buy it back, I was halfway to Oklahoma and just told him I’d let him know if I ever sold it. Even saved the bookmark all of these years across so many devices. I sure tried. Seems like the guy worked at Wal Mart too, again I may very well be mixing up sellers as I’ve bought a muzzleloader here, a CZ compact pistol and finally the 6.8spc AR. All have been great transactions with great people, this one was unique because he looked after every detail- even down to the pelican case with the custom cutouts. Here’s a link to the thread in the event we have an internet sleuth among us: http://www.texashuntingforum.com/fo..._Loaded_Rock_River_6_8spc_ar#Post2528697

Was it not Ponchomike? Previous link posted y’all left good feedback for each other regarding a gun purchase back in 2012.

Wasn’t me! I’ve never had a 6.8. Never drank that Koolaid! That transaction had to of been something else. Don’t remember what it was though. I can’t remember what I did last year, let alone 8 years ago!

I bought a CZ 9mm from Mike, I have a vague memory of meeting somewhere in DFW. Still have it, too. Really like those pistols.
I searched through posts in the period and found a few who posted about 6.8spc, sent a PM to one that sounded familiar.
I think I’m likely barking up an empty tree here but maybe will get lucky. If I can find him I’m pretty sure he will want it back, would like to give him a shot anyway.

One last bump. There’s got to be someone, maybe a mod who can still see this: https://texashuntingforum.com/forum..._Loaded_Rock_River_6_8spc_ar#Post2528697Post 2528697 Sorry to be a pest, my personal throttle has two settings- wide open or I do not participate, there is no in between and I do not stop until I finish whatever I’m trying to accomplish. It’s a blessing and has served me well when properly directed. When whatever it is I’m obsessed with isn’t so good- well it goes both ways I guess. -Kevin

Can you provide some more details about your rifle? Barrel length, upgrades, optic, etc.? I'm happy to spend a few minutes mining through posts to help

By some miracle I managed to find him, Jeff1383.
I think I found him by searching for people who posted about 6.8spc’s in the year before I bought it, his screen name sounded familiar so I took a shot and sent him a PM...it’s him.
Not sure if he’s interested in buying it and I’m not sure that I’ll sell it yet. I don’t need to sell it...the War Department is getting a little miffed with the number of firearms that sit there unused and provide her with something else to keep organized.
I’ve got three AR’s and one on the way, I was thinking that I rarely use this one, I’m in long range hunting country now so it just doesn’t make as much sense as it did over the last number of years.
It’s by far my favorite AR but I’m in the middle of a JP 6.5 Grendel build so I don’t know that I’ll need/use it that much.
TLew- to answer your question, pretty sure it’s an 18” barrel but could be 16”, I’ll have to check. It’s a RRA lower, Wilson Combat SS fluted barrel, 1st class everything including Trijicon 3-9 up top, backup flip up sights. I’m NOT an AR expert but this is extremely well done and shoots well. Don’t ask me about MOA because I’ve got no idea. I shot it yesterday because somewhere along the way the scope was messed with- was able to get two on top of each other and one maybe 1” away but at 100yds and 9x it’s hard to keep the green dot in precisely the same spot. I dialed from where the 2 hit together, shot one exactly 2” high at 100yds and quit.
If I decide to sell it and you’ve got interest I’ll sure ping you.

Glad you found him Kevin. I was trying to get more details to help you find him by looking at the AR and 6.8 threads that are still accessible.
That said, ping me if you do want to sell it, Jeff doesn’t want it, and I may be a buyer.
