Me personally, I won't buy a gun that doesn't have a wood or laminate stock. But I prefer wood over laminate. There is a certain elegance to a fine piece of walnut that has the twisted gnarly grains. I look at a rifle as more than just a hunting tool, but a work of art that deserves to be displayed with the finest of paintings or sculptures.

I voted syn/plastic. But I do not like the cheapie plastic stuff. Must be good quality.

Synthetic. I beat the crap out of my gear and a pretty rifle becomes pretty ugly in a short time.

i love the look of a fine wood stock, but i value the durability of a synthetic stock more..
plus i like the utilitarian vibe that black/charcoal gray gives off...

x3 on synthetic its less affected by climate and weather. Which aids in accuracy.
I'm more into go rather than show. I aint skeerd to use it cause it didn't start out "pretty."

i love them all. i love a beautiful wood stocked gun to use when i am just sitting in a deer blind. if i am spot and staking,or riding around in a high seat in the back of the truck on dusty roads,i love to use synthetic stocks.

To me, if you're "rough" on your guns, it better be because you're hiking and stalking. People that toss their gun in the bed of a truck, flop it on the ground, lean wood against metal, etc. don't know how to treat a gun.
I hike with a synthetic. I collect wood.

Wood with the finish like they did 30 or more years ago. Hand rubbed oil finish look instead of the newer finishes that have plastic finish look.

I think it would be relative to the gun being used in the stock. Without knowing which gun and it's intended use, I would be up in the air.

its only fitting that the rifle should be a reflection the owner.
I have 3 HS PSS stocks and 1 Manners so......i guess i'd vote synthetic/composite.
Nothing like a fine piece of wood carved and inlayed to construct a magnificent working weapon.

Wood looks better for the most part but synthetic is MUCH more forgiving and shows less bruises.

Very well put.
I wanted to vote both. I prefer synthetic on field guns (my deer rifle and hunting shotguns), but i prefer wood on guns that don't see much feild time (my over-under). it depends on the main purpose of the gun, to me.
I'm a dude who likes long barrels!

I prefer the durability of synthetic for my hunting rifles. But you have to have at least one safe queen with a high luster wood stock.

........And I'm the flip side of that coin! I love wood, but would rather have a very satten finish on that wood, the Steel I like Blued, or Rust blacked but with little shine.
For rifles used in Alaska all mine are in synthetic stocks for the Sept rains there. In Africa, I like wood because I usually hunt there with double rifles, but my plains game rifle might be either synthetic, or wood, because the weather doesn't effect zero like ten or fifteen days in Alaska's rain.
So I guess I have to vote for synthetic, and wood, and you couldn't run fast enough to hand me a composite stock!
