Looking for a golf cart for road and golf course use. What should I be looking at and staying away from? Buy new or used?
48V?

Thanks

If you buy used either get one with new batteries or expect to replace them shortly.

A baller like yourself should go buy new with the latest batteries and street ready. Take the governor off

We are looking also. Ours would only be for on road, around the neighborhood. We have some hills to deal with and were advised that a 48V would be ideal since it holds a more consistent speed going uphill.

From what I have seen, the used inventory is pretty low right now. So far the best deal I have found on a new cart is from Dynamic Carts in Carrollton. I spoke with the guy last week and he said everything he is getting in is already spoken for.

Interested to hear what others have to say.

I owned several different golf carts when I still played golf. My preference, in order, is Yamaha, Ezgo, Club Car.

I’m partial to Grapevine Golf Carts. Guess where it is. Lol. I’ve dealt with them for 20+ years. Same shop manager as well. They’ll treat ya right.

This was one of my projects about 18 years ago. I bought an electric go kart motor with controller and batteries, 48 volt 1000 watt motor, then a set of 14" motocross motorbike wheels for the rear drive and a matching bike fork for the front. Electric 3 wheeler. Chinese suppliers have all of the parts, you just need to design and weld it all together. There are several dealers in the DFW area. I had it about half way built when I lost the sight in my left eye, I sold it for the parts. I saw the costs a few months ago, at a rough guess a $1200 to $1500 should build a basic electric 3 wheeler with mostly new parts. .

If I was buying another I would get a Lithium battery. Replacing batteries every few years is a pain in the [censored] and expensive.

I bought an older ezgo, ripped out all the guts installed an off road kit from cartsunlimited. ScottyB on there has a complete kits including alltrax controller, hd f&r switch, high amp solenoid, 2g cables and I installed a high torque motor. I use mine for hunting and around the farm, crawling through pig holes and go through creeks that takes water over the floorboards. It goes through it all. Im still running it on 36v, but everything is compatible with 48v and when these batteries die in a few years Ill be going to 48v. It was all pretty easy to do.

These guys came to Frisco Lakes last Saturday. They will fill water, tires, lube, onsite. If you need something which needs fixing they will haul it back to Grapevine .
I did look at new carts, thinking about trading up to a Club Car LITHIUM Battery. Like a Tesla golf cart

Only con: $13K

Lithium is the latest and greatest in carts now.

My cart was expensive , it was a 2 year old EZ GO . Golf Carts For Fun on 380 . They swap brakes, new batteries, shocks, body kit, vampire wheels, low pro tires , golf club rack, grill guard, custom upholstery.

Grapevine is going to instal a faster chip and add a Rigid light bar

Mine is for booze cruisin the neighborhood. I rent a cart when I play, tear their chit up roflmao

I bought a refurbished one 4 years ago....$2500. Have used it weekly since as we live on a golf course. Just had to replace the 6 batteries which was painful. ($800) I would vote for gas if I had deep pockets but $10K+ for a new machine is just nuts.

My step-dad bought this from his divorcee neighbor for $800 a few weeks ago. He spent $1000 on new batteries and it was good as new. My wife offered him $3k for it and now it's hers. bang
