For those that understand concrete in summertime TEXAS at what stage of firmness would you begin the finishing? I know in cool weather it can be started at 1/4 inch finger test . After I bull float it I plan to make one pass with a hand float then stamp it. Is 3/8 finger test to late in this heat ? 1/2" to soon?

Thoughts?

I’ve always wondered about when the best time of year and/or weather conditions lead to foundation repair years down the road. Same with house frames getting rained on before they get in the dry, and how it affects things later.

I poured the stuff for many years . If you're stamping it make sure you use a jitter bug to get all the rock down or you will have problems. Iv never used a depth to know when its ready but I woukd say when you aren't making much cream any more with the float and it has some firmness its ready. Use a tamper to make sure your stamps get all the way down and even. If its super hot out pour early or you better be quick. If its super hot thst day put lime over it or have a running sprinkler over it when its good and harc
