Do you like it? What model and power you got? On what caliber gun?
Thinking of getting the Pentax Gameseeker 4-16x50 for my new 30-06 but don't know anything about these scopes. Any info would be great.

Concerns:
Will recoil from the 06 be a prob?
Fog on the lens's.
Do the cross hairs "fade" when in the higher powers?

Dang cuz, with all the money you won at poker last night you ought to buy you a Leupold. Enjoyed playing with you.

I got the Nikon Buckmaster in 4.5x14 for my Weatherby SUB-MOA in .223. It is a good scope for the money. The Burris Fullfield II is another one to look at in that range. Don't know anything about the Pentax scopes. Check out SWFA.com or SampleList.com for good prices on optics.

Good Hunting,
Gary

Ha! Even if I won enough to cover a 14 power Leupold I wouldn't spend that on a scope!
I will check those sites out. Thanks!

i got one of the gameseekers in 3.5x10 x50 from doug at cameralandny.

he sells on here sometimes. it is solid with the light intake and shoots very well.

it is only on a 25.06 so not sure that is a fair comparison to yours, but i like it so far. it even has the yardage estimating reticle in it.

for $70, it was a great deal.

Stuff my dad said in the deer blind

"I can dive deeper and come up drier"
"did you do that?"

Do you like the yardage reticle? I'm looking at the 14 power but it comes with the same reticle...
Thanks

I don't think you need that much scope on a 3006.. I had a Gameseeker 4-12 x 40 and mine and ended later ended up getting a Pioneer 3-9 x 40. To each their own I guess.

I have a Pentax 3x9 on my .270. If I had the money I would replace it with a Nikon.

Why not? A gun is only as good as the glass that sits on top of it.

If a Leupold is out of your budget, I completely understand. But if you can afford one, why scrimp?

Its always been my philosophy to spend as much as you can afford on optics for the reason I stated above. Five years from now I don't think or worry about how much i spent on the scope, I just know I have a good quality scope I don't have to worry about.

I am with Bill.

I had a 300 win mag and bought the cheapest scope that i thought i could "get away with." All i managed to due was end up with an extra that i will save for like a 22lr or something.

I know that is the subject of a huge debate, the rifle to scope cost ratio. I do now try to buy the best scope within the budget I set. My current deer/bolt action rifle has a very nice Leupold vx-3, btw got an unbelievable great deal on it. While it is probably more than I need, I have absolutley no regrets about it.

Here's my thing. I don't really mind the $250 for a Leupold 3x9 but I want more than a 9power max. So when you start talking about 12 and 14 power Leupolds it gets ridiculous! I can't imagine spending $800 or much more on a scope!
The reason I wouldn't: When I bought my .300 Win Mag ELEVEN years ago I bought a $200 Simmons Aetec. I have never once in over ten years had to adjust it and I hunted with it every year and hard. On 4 wheelers and in truck beds on a jacket, etc... Hell, it was still zeroed when I sold it a few weeks ago. So...

$800 ???!!!

Straight from Cabela's= Leupold VX-1 4-12 $299.00
Leupold VX-II 4-12 $429.00

The VX-1 is basically the same exact scope as the older Vari-x II's but with I believe slightly better lense coatings.

Another option, which is a very durable scope in my experience, the Burris FF-II 4.5-14x44 for $329.00

Any of these scopes can be found even a little cheaper at otheer places and watching for sales.

With the Simmons I've dealt with, I had a couple decent ones, actually good ones like yours. But I also had a couple of total duds. One of which was an Aetec my dad had that crapped out after about 200 rds on a 7 Mag.

You can a get a lemon with any brand, even Zeiss, but the odds you will get a bad one are ALOT less likely when you step up to a little better optics IMHO.

I have one but it probably isn't anything like what you'll be looking for. I have a Pentax Turkey Competition Zero-X/Variable Lightseeker SG Plus (0x-4X Variable). It was built especially for a NWTF competition but I have it on one of my short range rifles. It is a great little scope and having a magnification range of 0x to 4x covers any close range shooting (150 yards or so) that I ever do. I read somewhere that they were made one year for one competition and that was the total run. But, I can't swear to it. That's just what I read.

Practice doesn’t make perfect.
Practice makes permanent.

+1 for the AETEC, mine is great on my M 700 30.06

Yes Sir! Well, I couldn't swing the $200+ right now for the Aetec so I went with a Simmons WhiteTail Classic (6.5-20x50). My mom has had this scope on her 30-06 since the mid 90's and it's still going strong.
