My 2012 6.7L F-250 was giving me problems, body mounts, turbo boost hose broke, DPF left me in limp, had to rebuild front end, welds on radiator cracked. I had enough and went test drive a 2020 F-250 KR and wasn't impressed with the ride then, drove the 2020 Duramax and liked it. I bought the 2500 denali because the rebate on the denali made it cheaper than a AT4 even though the sticker was higher on the Denali. I haven't pulled with it yet, just hoping I didn't make a mistake switching to GMC.

It will be what you make of it I bet. If you make your mind up that nothing but a blue oval will do that’s what you will find. We have had great luck with duramaxes over the years.

I'm not that guy who will only recognize one brand. The last two powerstrokes I owned gave me issues from the start, the 3rd earliest was the 7.3L and went 290,000 with no issues then I traded it on a 6.0L expecting the same reliability, no explanation needed.
This is my first Duramax, hope I get more reliability out of it than the last two fords I had. The new trucks are idiotically expensive, theres no backing out now. However, now is the time to buy one I got 1K under retail (not trade-in value) for my ford and 10K off sticker, probably the best deal I ever made on a vehicle.

Yep, a guy writing about making a $60,000 plus purchase showing a losers limp. He better learn to appreciate the transaction.

had 2004 ford f-250 with v-10, lifted, 8 mpg in town, 12 on long freeway trip, thirsty. drove till 2014,camo wrapped and turned out to the hunting lease. bought 2015 trophy hunter edition duramax, my buddy got same, lots of problems for him, he got rid of it. mine been good but got left in the middle of nevada when fuel pressure regulator switch broke, cost me $1K to get truck shipped back. too much trouble to argue with chevy about it. really the only hiccup (not insignificant $$ though). will stick with it but wanted to go back to ford f350 diesel in a few years but reading above, now some hesitation. agree; new $70k+, a lot of bread...

Deals can still be found on a Superduty. I gave less than 47k for my 2019 F350 cc 4x4 4/19. Not everyone needs a truck with every bell and whistle.

Fords are expensive but just like the reason a divorce is expensive....because they are worth it You'll probably like the truck if it's a good one (they all make bad ones). A buddy of mine has a half ton Silverado...only Chebby I've ever drove that I could actually see myself liking. GM came a long way with the money the government gave them.

Its a gamble, lots of ancillaries on all new diesel engines that can fail and cost to repair/replace are high. I have to say I'm impressed with the new GMC Duramax's fit and finish compared to Ford, nothing wrong with the ford but I think they went the wrong by going to a aluminum body. Yeah, Ford has higher HP and torque ratings but the Duramax has plenty for what anyone needs to do. Just spending that kind of money on a truck is ridiculous but, that's what they cost now.

I love the way the new AT4's look

Can't say how it pulls yet, but the ride and craftmanship is top notch. I drove the AT4, its supposed to have a 2" factory lift but I couldn't tell any difference in height. Plenty of power, the transmission is smooth and the cab is silent. They come with 3.42 gears because of the 10 speed I assume, at 80mph its only at 1700rpms, temp runs a little over 165deg. I bought it and two days later got called out early to work so I didn't get a chance to tow with it but I'm guessing its more than enough.

I know it's none of my business, but I really can only warn you about the purchase of any Diesel Vehicle at the moment. This isn't the Diesel you think you will get - buy gasoline. It is cheap in Texas.
You will eventually not only face trouble with the engine in regards to exhaust treatment but also in engine controls. You will most likely experience that the average car mechanic can't help you once the [censored] hits the fan (no offense but, it's true)
If you don't have a highly qualified electrician at hand, stay away from modern Diesel.

Still driving my 7.3 since purchased, March 99. 300,000 plus miles with zero issues. I feel fortunate there are zero emissions controls on my truck. Have made some great upgrades on it. The best part, I have not had a vehicle payment since 2004.

I had a MB 250D W124 5 Cyl - no power but 450.000km with no issues. 200.000km just with pre-filtered oil from a deep fryer instead of Diesel. When I sold it I still got 2k for it, and I am sure she runs today somewhere in Africa perhaps in a tractor or as a drive for a water pump. But she will run.

No doubt some folks have problems with them. A lot of problems from non deleted modern diesels come from people who do not work them and do not drive enough. Short trips and idling are bad juju on modern diesels. No doubt there are some that just have problems no matter what you do to them but a large portion are due to not being worked/ran. I have two cousins both with new diesels. They both bought them because they were cool what they wanted and they could afford them. One drives 5 miles round trip to work the other 14 miles round trip. The trucks do not even warm up before they turn them off. They were both plagued with emissions issues until they deleted them.
