I know this has been discussed before, but I am thinking of getting a new one. What kind of e collar do you use, what kind of hunting are you doing with it, and what do you like or dislike about it. My knee jerk is to get a Sport Dog, but my dad had one a couple of years ago and we didn't have much luck with it, very untrustworthy at distance. Has anyone used DT systems. I like Tri Tronics but they cost a little more.

i did a lot of research before I bought mine, I setteled on the Sportdog 1800. It is 100% water proof and has a good range on it, and the price was right. The range is going to vary on the terrian you are in, in flat land with no trees or interferiance the 1800 is suppose to be 3/4 mile. Throw in hills and dense tree's that is going to go way down
From my understanding they are fairly new company and have worked out a lot of bugs that they once had.
i am an upland hunter with a GSP
Attention rickym, this is not a troll post, just a good hearted fun type of post

I bought a SportDog and hated it (the difference between one stimulation level and the next was too high). I took it back to Cabela's and wound up buying a Tri-tronics Pro Series 200XL. I LOVE the TT and will only buy their collars now. Yes, they are a little higher in price but I haven't had a problem with it plus, with the Pro Series, you get the tube style transmitter (which I like better).

I got a TT. I heard their customer service is real good too, if you have questions, or if something goes wrong.

All of my collars are Dogtra. I use them a lot and they tae a beating. I have a 250 we call old Sparky that has just done more than a person could ask a product to do. Now the other collars are probably good but when I was buying my collars the only one that had a small transmitter was Dogta. TT had a transmitter as big as a flashlight. I keep a transmitter in my left hand and in my right when we have a lot of dogs to train in one day. That way my helpers can collar a dog and bring it to the training grounds and I can just operate which ever collar is on the field. So in a nutshell I chose the smaller transmitters of Dogtra for the ease of operation. They have never failed me yet. So i will keep buying Dogtra.

I have the Sportdog 2000 and it is great, has done everything I want it to do. It is completely submergable, and camoed. I find the settings are perfect with a tone only setting. I have trained her to turn and look when the tone is sounded instead of blowing the whistle.

I use the DT 302, 2 dog tack and train model. The range is good and I really like the remote locate when working heavy cover. I run 4 setters and they all range differently and all respond differently to the collar, but the DT does the job.

I have always used tri tronics, they have never let me down. I have 2 2dog upland specials that have never given me a lick of trouble. They are not cheap, but neither are good bird dogs. I have heard good things about dogtra but I have not used their e collars. I do own 2 of their remote bird launchers and they have been very reliable for me.
IF YOU CAN DO IT, IT AIN'T BRAGGIN!
