I think we can all agree that the 6.5 Creedmoor is just a fad and will be obsolete in 2 years.

I gravitate to 5 calibers:

6.5x55 Swedish first offered in 1891
9.3x62 Mauser first offered in 1905
6.5x54 MS first offered in 1908
375 H&H Mag first offered in 1912.
7mm Rem Mag first offered in 1962

Yep I fell for that new "trendy" 7mm Mag. Don't know what I was thinking. On a serious note I don't think any of the new whiz bang cartridges will kill game any deader than the 5 I have listed above. They do what I need done. I have no use for or desire to learn a new cartridge. But to each his or her own.

I don't usually come around until they fall out of fasion. Partly because that is about the time you realise what a gem that was. Like 300 blk... realy wish I would have snagged a Model 7 in 300 blk before it was discontinued.

6.5 creedmoor... i want one of those now too. I *really* want a .224 valkyrie. That is the only .22 centerfire you can get factory catrtridges loaded with bullets of really good sectional density.

Think... .22 cal, 1,400 fpe, .250 sectional density bullets and like less than 5 pounds recoil. By the numbers that is a perfect deer cartridge for kids.

No question it'll still be available, even after the "me too" has worn away.

Probably 35 calibers in my collection, but I'm not familiar with too many of the newer ones. But I like to learn.

I'm pragmatic. The most exotic thing I have is a 300 Wby.

"Beware the man with one gun." Especially if its a M70 3006 shooting Nosler Partitions.
Nothing against anything trendy, but I inherited a gun in 72 and its all ive ever needed or wanted. At least for deer hunting and that's all that's important to me.

I'd like to have a 6.8SPC. But I'd form the cases from 30-30's and chamber it in a single shot because I have three different .27 molds and nothing to shoot them in.

i'm right there with you, i have always been a fan of the old stand by calibers. .22lr, .270, .3006....i see no reason to change. i own a couple others but they are pretty standard as far as things go too. .223, .243, 4570,

to me all the new stuff is, is more expensive, at times harder to find, and most of it seems centered around impressive velocity. i like to shoot, but my shooting is relatively limited to hunting. i don't plink a lot unless its in preparation for hunting. to me a lot of velocity just tears up meat. I like the older original calibers matched with bullets that are maybe heavy for caliber and maybe even slow them down a little. all the way thru penetration, dependable accuracy, don't rip things up more than necessary. good clean kills on game. nosler partition bullets are about the best bullets ever made for medium and large game, doesn't matter what caliber you shoot them thru.
