Little too high for filling from the ground but perfect while standing in the back of the truck.

Looks good, is that one "varmint plate" under the barrel? Did you make it?

Yes I made it. There are two plates on the bottom. One below the angle iron the drum sits on and the one you see below it. They’re about 2” apart. It’s an 85-gallon drum. Holds about 600 pounds. There’s a piece of square tubing between the plate you see for the solar panel to protect the wires. Hoping it holds up well and deters the coons.

Yeah, I jokingly called this one the tank because of how heavy the base is. Hopefully it will functions well for years.

Looks good. Very similar to mine. That looks good, Pig. The only thing I think I would change if you did another would be to have angle iron on top of the square tubing so the barrels sit down inside the lip. That adds stability and a few drilled holes you can run bolts through to tighten against the barrels. Then you can change out the barrels easy if need be.

Initial plan was to use angle iron top just like you said. However, after trying to remove funnels that had been in barrels for years, I found it impossible without totally destroying the funnels and not something I would be doing in the field. So they got welded to the square tube. The only downfall of the square tone is the fact it hangs 2 inches below the barrel which isn’t enough to clear the corn being thrown without a longer funnel.

That makes sense. I got mine from Ramball36 several years ago and the barrel hasn't rusted out - yet.... The barrel isn't welded to the angle iron- there are bolts threaded through the angle iron that you tighten against the barrel.

I've never heard of those Yes they are just a little large in diameter and height. I bought them from this man back in the 90's but not sure if he still can get the used ones. He has or had locations scattered in the smaller towns all around SA. http://davethebarrelman.net/
