Use whatever gun you’re most comfortable with.
I’ve used my maxus, but preferred my pump at the time because I was more comfortable with it. Now that I have shot the maxus more, I’d shoot either.
Don’t overthink it. Use whatever gun will make your hunt more enjoyable and wound the least birds.

Are you asking because you want the 3 1/2" model? I believe it will handle the light dove loads but there are folks on here that could verify that. As far as barrel length, I'm partial to 28" barrels but I also like double barrels.
There is time, and you must take it, to lay your hand on your dog's head as you walk past him lying on the floor or on his settle, time to talk with him, to remember with him, time to please him, time you can't buy back once he's gone" GBE

I have 3.5/26” maxus......dove, quail, grouse, Turkey, pheasants, chicken, quail, lessor and greater Canadian’s, Ducks, rabbits, squirrels, and a few snakes...
No issues, I think 3” patterns slightly better in back bored Brownings with 2 3/4 shells but not enough to agrue over
Im 26 in fan, but my go to upland gun is 24”

I have both 26" and 28" Maxus shotguns. I like the way the 26" handles when I'm hunting pheasant and quail. I use the 28" camo when I'm in a blind or shooting from one place. For dove I could go either way.
Both are at Browning right now getting the dura-touch stock issue fixed.
