Simple curiosity here...

I ordered a firearm accessory (part)about 2 weeks ago. It shipped UPS and was scheduled for delivery today by 9:00pm I received a text last night that my shipment had arrived at local hub and was on time as scheduled. I then received a text at 6:28am this morning that my package was "HELD" for delivery at a later date. I have been unable to reach any "live" person to find out why. I later talked to a friend of mine who had ordered some shooting related items and he had a very similar outcome however, his message said "some items HELD" for delivery at a later date. Since then everything from his order except a particular gun part was delivered to his door by UPS. The UPS website and such claims to be conducting business as usual.

This makes me wonder just what is going on and why UPS is not delivering certain items at their discretion...

I believe this will become a good tinfoil discussion.

The took tide detergent and toilet paper off my order and told me it would be delivered at a later date.

Sometimes it's hard being me! But somebody has to do it.

Where did you order it from and who "HELD" it? I am sure that UPS does not look through packages and look at the contents and hold certain items depending on their content.

Marvin,
I certainly didn't intend it that way but let the chips fall where they may...

It was ordered from a company with "Arms" in the name. UPS "HELD" the item and still is currently. Here's a few facts for you though...they don't have to "look through" packages to know the contents. First, the pkg has an RF tag from the seller that tells the carrier the contents. Second, UPS employs the very same scanning/x-ray technology as other carriers, in order to detect "illegal weapons." UPS absolutely scans packages on a frequent basis. Their "terms of use" explains this in the fine print.

A delivery after commit exception was probably placed on it. Coulda been for a number of reasons. Late plane/truck, mechanical issues with the truck/plane, late due to weather, late inbound to the station and drivers needed to get out the door to deliver packages that arrived on time. You’re reading too much into it. The people sorting your package don’t care about the name of the company sending it or the contents unless it’s hazmat, they’re simply looking at the destination on the slick. Scan and place in the appropriate truck/container and on to the next. I’ve handled more boxes than I care to admit and I can tell you 99% of the time I don’t know the contents unless The packing slip is visible or the box comes open.

Firearms, firearm accessories, and ammo get shipped all the time through UP. No one is scanning your packages.

Actually, per the tracking system, my package arrived to the local hub the previous day so those reasons don't really apply. In addition, we're 3 days later now and my item still shows the status of "HELD." My neighbor received their new patio furniture this morning via UPS too. So who's deciding what gets held and what doesn't? LOL

The agents of Unspoken Directives are coming for your guns. Be careful, they disguise themselves as delivery persons and drive a brown van.

Someone above my pay grade. But please keep us posted, I’m curious to know the reason for this.

Well, I was finally able to get through to a live person although I think he was in India or somewhere near there...He informed me that the "investigation team" were delaying many packages for the safety of their carriers and customers. nidea He further clarified that many packages had come through a possible "contaminated" facility in Georgia and/or Mississippi and the "investigation team" was working very hard to determine if my package was one of them.... flag

Amazon Prime delivery delays are now as long as a month
The e-commerce giant is prioritizing household staples and other high-demand items during the coronavirus pandemic.
