Wanting to see if anyone knows of or can recommend a wooden rifle stock cover, and where to buy them (they're surprisingly hard to come by). I'm looking at Boca brand but was really hoping to find something that velcros.

Have you considered finding a take off synthetic stock? You could paint it or do whatever you want to it and most people all but give them away when they do a "build".

The gun in question was my first rifle, which my father got for me when I started hunting on my own. I recently had the stock refinished and have no intention of putting on an after-market stock at all.

LOL not saying throw it away, You can change the stock in a few minutes with 2 screws. Keep it and keep it pristine and tear up some other one. Just an option many use.

I thought about it but would rather not. Since I spent the money on getting it fixed up I'd rather just use it (I just don't want it getting messed up again).

In searching your issue I stumbled across bulk neoprene. If you can't find something you like, you might consider finding a fabric you like and designing your own. HunterSteve on here makes and sells suppressor covers. It's possible he could make what you want.

I stumbled across bulk neoprene Like 1/4 inch thick foam like stuff? Used to have ski jacket for slalom skiing made of it. That would make an awesome case/cover. ETXbuckman, why not just a cheap soft case for the whole rifle?

ETXbuckman, why not just a cheap soft case for the whole rifle? I'm looking for something can be placed over the stock such that the rifle can be used while it's on the gun. One of the guys that used to be on my lease had one that he kept on his rifle all the time, including while he was hunting, but I can't find anything like that anymore. I'm guessing due to the popularity of synthetic stocks there's not much a market for these now.

ETXbuckman, why not just a cheap soft case for the whole rifle? No it was much thinner. If you look at the Boca covers mentioned above, it's a similar fabric, one that could be used to make a velcro stock cover.

I would be afraid the neoprene might mare the finish somehow.

Kane Gun Chaps use a padded zipper and Velcro. . Man I was really hoping that would pan out but unfortunately I cannot seem to find them anywhere. I appreciate the suggestion though.

I recently bought a sheet of the Talon tape they have for Glock grips. Cut several strips and put them on the bottom of my wood and painted rifles so nothing gets tore up when it’s on a rest. Works great and helps with the grip. Not a full solution put is protects the bottom of the stock. You can add a neoprene shell holder to the buttstock and that will protect a lot of the rifle.

What rifle are you needing it for? I use to have a ton of these things for various models. May still have them in storage. Just let me know what rifle it is for and if I have it I will send it to you free of charge.

If you have any that fit a Browning A-bolt short action that's what I'm looking for.

I made a redneck stock cover for my old Remington 700 BDL with the shiny walnut stock a few years ago, mostly to cut the shine while hunting. I used a gun sock, wrapped tight behind the muzzle, held in place with electrical tape, a few cutouts for the action and trigger, and a little more electrical tape to keep it snug in the right places. Easy on, easy off. I purchased a Gun Chaps cover before this, but found it to be too bulky.
