Anybody know much about the Sherman improved chamberings? Word on the street is that the 338 Sherman and 338 Sherman Short can push a 338 250gr Berger at 2860 in both a long action and short mag case.

I know very little, but I hear nothing but good things about all of the Sherman rounds.

Did you take the plunge and try one out?

I just about have all the components... Will be resurrecting my first rifle that has been neglected — a tang safety 270 Ruger M77 and rebarreling/chambering in 338 Sherman to push the Rocky Moontain 250 gr ULD at about 2800 FPS

Benchmark light Palma 1:9.4 at 24” or 25”
APA little B brake
Refinishing orig factory wood stock — hand rubbed oil finish, pillar and glass bedded
Factory hinged floor plate with custom extended 3.6” box mag.

Great round. Built mine on Bighorn Origin Action, WestTexas Ordnance Switchlug, and 22” Bartlein Barrel. Shooting 230g Hornady ELDx and H-Varget. Getting 2900 MV. Didn’t get to hunt with it in 2019, but looking forward to 2020 hunting season.

About time you posted a thread on this cool cartridge. It is still really interesting to me, although I am in the middle of a 338 Win Mag. It might be a future project, and Tony verified he still has the reamer.

This is even more interesting since my current mile rifle is a 7 SAUM. I have almost a lifetime supply of Norma brass, and my barrel is apparently supposed to be shot out (3500 rds) although I am still shooting in the .3s. Next bbl will be in .338, since I am already set up with Badger bottom metal and 338 AICS mags.

22 inch shooting a 230 at 2900? What case are you using and could you share load data and COAL?
