We seldom eat black eyed peas, but when we do it is from a can. We do however, make a black eyed pea dip at New Years and a few more times during the year.
1 can drained black eyed peas-mashed to mush with a potato masher
1 jar old english cheese
quarter of an onion diced
2-3 jalapeno's seeded and diced chopped
1/4 stick of butter.
Salt/pepper to taste
Saute onion and jalapeno in butter, add beans to warm, then add cheese to melt. Serve warm with choice of chips, we use Frito's.
